First off, I want to make it clear that it is great that steerplanet is getting so many new members, and new posters.  That is what this site is for, and the more people that take part in it, the better it is.

That being said, has anyone noticed an influx of new posters that have been demeaning and confrontational to other members?  It just really surprises me how bold some of these new members are on such an established forum.  I can't fathom going on this board with only 5 or 6 posts and putting down a member who has hundreds, or even thousands of posts.  ???

Just my observation.

I am in 100% agreement. I am fairly new and have even noticed that.

Show some respect.  You are not a tough, intimidating and you most defiantly have no character bashing or starting fights on a public forum. You also just make yourself look like a fool and people remember names and posts.

Well you know when I started on here the threads of the time was how certain guys on here were to hard and rude to the newbies running them off.
I will admit I have not seen what you are talking about anymore than usual. You always get the newbie that post the question he already knows the answer to on what he wants to breed to or buy and then gets upset with anyone who doesn't tell him what he wants to hear.
I would like to say this be careful "writing someone off" reading a post that you may be misinterpreting. I think if your are going to go as far as "remembering the post" you should pm, email or in the  thread  ask the person  if it is condensing as you are taking their comments to be. Again I have not seen what you are talking about yet and maybe it is clear and cut case but misinterpreting the emotions behind a post is very common. I have been to other sites and boards and they many of them are horrible with what you are describing for no reason it seams most of the time.  Being passive aggressive over a situation and not getting further details could be just as harmful as newbies being disrespectful to  elders in your community.

ps  hundreds of post does not give you the right to be rude or condensing to newbies for no other reason that they are a newbie. Works both ways. I think a lot of times it is the newbie misinterpreting post and taking offense is what often starts problems. May be because they come from one of the other boards where it runs wild.        (argue)

I think the age of a member should be required on your member profile and appear next to your avatar.  I know those who are rude by nature won't pay much attention to that but it would help some to know if there are typing to a 14 year old or a 64 year old.

Lot of the older posters have left way before the latest crowd. There's really only been about 5 people who have been out of line over the whole coarse of the site.  Don't really see any issue with the newbies.

This site has done a good job of not jumping the shark.

It was not my intent to come across rude or condescending about the new members on steerplanet.  Like I start my whole thread with, I totally appreciate the new members to steerplanet.  Also, I do not condone this behavior from the veteran members, be it toward other veteran members, or new members.  Personally, I have thick skin, and can handle the criticism, but it doesn't mean that I don't recognize that is it taking place, whether it's toward me, or other members.

Mr. ZNT I was not implying in anyway that you where doing any such thing not even close. I took it like you meant it just wanted to add a different point of view to the topic. I did not read rudeness nor condescension in your comments but I do see it from some veteran posters at time.....but a lot of times it is a little deserved.

Maybe, before someone makes judgement on a post they have to re-read it a couple of times to make sure they are understanding what is being said. I know I have may have to read something twice to understand where they are coming from. Just some thoughts from a "Newbie"
