We had 4-5 one good steer-the rest went to town-just were not thick-and thier dams were The steer is shown at 5 months in 103 heat-he is about 11 months old and very good-in a soft kind of look, and is a first calf. The picture does not show him as thick as he really was-because my computer crashed and it is a defragged pic-hes turned into a good one period.-my files are too big for the others-Id use Touchdown on a hiefer for a live calf-but he just didnt work on most of our cattle O0

I'll add this picture of a Touchdown heifer out of a Rainmaker x Angus. She wasn't very wide from behind but was attractive from the side. That steer above is going to show at our county fair in August. He looks good right now.

I am sorry to hear that some of you have not been pleased with the thickness in your Touchdown calves. I find that very unusual, to say the least, as my experience is he will moderate frame and add thickness to his calves. I have also found that if you like them as calves you really like them as yearlings. The Touchdown heifers in my replacement pen are some of the thickest I have. They are moderate framed and they have very good udders. Nice shaped teats and they appear to be milking well. My TD heifers have are just calving now, with the earliest calving about a month ago. I had two that calved last spring and both sold to breeders before fall. The picture of the udder on a TD heifer was one of these.
I continue to get reports from people saying they are pleased with their Touchdown calves. One breeder recently phoned to let me know that he has a Touchdown heifer that is the best he has ever raised. Like most bulls, I am sure he doesn't work on every female, but we are very pleased with what he is doing and we have found his calves to be very marketable. Here are a few pics.

The first pic is of TD after breeding for 60 days. He is 3 years old here.
The next 3 pics are TD calves.
The last pic is the udder on a TD 2 year old heifer.

Here a couple of Touchdown daughters that I own.  The first pic is a calf that was born March 13, she's about a week old in this pic (frozen ears just starting to curl...  ::) )
She was born unassisted with no trouble at all from a 2yr old, 90lb BW.  Very long bodied with lots of thickness over her top and carries great muscling and thickness down thru her hind quarters. Very happy with this heifer calf.

The second, third, and fourth pics are of a 2yr old that should calve in the next couple weeks.  These pics were taken about a month ago.
She's very deep bodied and has plenty of thickness over the top and thru her hind end as well- no shortage of muscling in her!

Would you say he is a sure fire heifer bull if somebody was to breed them to angus heifers with some birthweight behind them?

We have used him successfully on Shorthorn heifers but I am always hestitant to say any bulls is foolproof on any group of heifers. There are so many factors that can affect BW and calving ease, other than the sire, yet it is always the sire that get the blame. Environmental issues like feed, and exercise can be factors as well as things like the genetic make-up of the heifers and their pelvic size. Touchdown himself had a BW of 82 lbs, but we have had calves as much as into the mid 90s from cows. I would consider him to be a reasonable choice for use on heifers.
