The recent stretch of hot, dry weather around here has made heat detection seem more difficult.  Is this common or is the heat effecting us humans and no the cows?

Oh yeah, hot weather can make it really difficult to detect when a cow is in heat.  We use a CIDR protocol and time-breed if we have to in the summer rather then breed by sight.

Yeah the heat can be a bear for bovines and humans and I am with SJ - we use CO Synch + CIDR and time breed.
