So I have one heifer that i am not sure if she is bred yet. I AI'ed her on August 15, I think.  On day 20 and day 21 i noticed a tiny amount of white clear discharge. Early on day 23 she tried to jump another heifer and late that night she had more discharge with a little blood. I figured that she wasn't bred. This time around i have noticed very little discharge but today there was a little blood from her. What is interesting is that no other animals have even seemed interested in even jumping her. I am wandering if anybody thinks she is possibly bred? Is there sometimes heifers that still have signs like this once they are bred? Do you think there could possibly be something wrong with a calf that she is carrying? Once i feel its been long enough i will try to feel if anything is growing but its still too soon to tell anyway. I find its interesting too that she tends to cycle on a 19 day cycle and shes longer than that now and before the other cows would stand plenty and before i tried breeding her she would always have lots of white clear discharge. And im sure that this is all the signs. She is up in the barn with a few other cows and i spend hours out there throughout the day so i keep a pretty good eye on them. Thanks for any help and imput.

Heat cycle can range from 16-25 days, 21 is just an average.  Discharge is quite common and doesn't mean if they are bred or not it is just something called psuedomenstration and a small percentage of cattle do this and it is perfectly normal.  Another small percentage of cattle will show signs of being in heat even when they are not.  Not sure what to tell you other than it will taking arming her to get the real story on whether she is bred or not.

They can appear to cycle and actually be bred.  I just had a cow calve to the date I A.I.'d her, but a friend of mine had A.I.'d her again on what would have been her 2nd cycle after the 1st breeding.  Only way to know for sure is to have her checked.  A good palpater can tell at 30 days.  Or have her ultrasounded.
