Ok, so Heat Wave is registered as a 25%, does that mean if you breed to a purebred you would have a high % out of Heat Wave?

heat wave is probably successful because he's a composite, not because of needing a higher percent maine.  hmm.  i wonder if you bred him to an awesome 007 cow if you could get a birth weight over 200.  it's getting to the point of halving a 6 month old calf at slaughter weight, which might not be a bad thing if the gestation length allowed you to get two calves/year without twins.

Whats the rule with the Maines and TH? Do you have to test the heifer in order to get her registered?

The reason I asked the question was at Jr. Nationals you have to be a high % bull and I didn't think there would ever be a Heat Wave sired calf that qualified, there isn't, but I hadn't realized Heat Wave was registered as a 1/4 blood so that kind of threw me for a minute, I he had a number added just from a registered bull from another association, my bad.  Thanks
