Reserve was also a HW sold by Brandon Jones I think. On the MLC blog it says MLC sold him so I don't know how they would mix that up

I believe he is a Walks Alone, I am gonna take sides with the person who owns him and shows him.

But that raises a good point, how many of the claims can you really believe? I mean look at the online sales, how many calves do you see out there that they claim are out of the clean up bull, you mean to tell me that these people NEVER miss a cow when they AI.  Now I know that some of them are big breeders so whats on the sale listing is just a minute portion of their calf crop, but some of them arent so whats on there is everything they had.  Plus if my clean up bull wasnt good enough to throw at least a decent low end calf, I would most likely be looking to replace him.

At the same time, steers are generally crosses at these shows, dont get entered with papers, so there is no pedigree on record.  Therefore anybody can claim anything.  Thats another reason that I dont think it is that important who sired them.  I am not gonna go breed my whole herd to HeatWave because he has influenced more promotion bulls and champions than any other bull out there.  Just because he worked on some cows dont mean he works on all of them.  Same here, I love Walks Alone, have liked a lot of his calves, but I know we have several cows in our small herd that he would most likely be a nightmare on. You have to look at all the bulls, what they have to offer, and then select the bull that best compliments the female you are breeding.  Not just go breed on name and record alone.  I know a lot of people that do that and end up with a pasture full of crap calves.

It got a bit more interesting as a protest has been filed claiming that the steer was not continually owned for the 150 days prior to the show.

I have attached the protest and blacked out their names. These are allegations at this point and I only can confirm that this has been filed.  We will have to stay tuned to see how it shakes out.   But, again these are allegations and I have no clue if they are true or not.

With it being blacked I guess this not clear, but their are 2 different names in the protest.
Where did you find this out?! I also believe he was a WA

It's the same letter but as far as I can tell Jason didn't copy the version I posted, he was just sent the same letter.  The black outs are different.

I believe that we still adhere to the  "innocent until proven guilty".  I think that it is a shame that this is leaked before there has been any ruling from either Ark Sar Ben or NAILE.  I also think that whom ever provided this protest with Junior Exhibitors names attached to the general public should be ashamed of themselves.

I am holding off on any opinion until there is an official comment from the two shows in question.  Talk about a defamination of character lawsuit if this turns out to be just blowing smoke.

The major shows are semi public entities and anything they do is public record.  Jason and Jeff both handled it tastefully and worded it appropriately.  Shows shouldnt have rules if they dont enforce them and let everyone know they do so.  I  hope its a misundetstanding, but we'll see.

Not throwing Jeff and Jason under the bus.  However, was this issued as a press release from NAILE or did an individual provide the document with out the names blacked out to them?  There is a difference between an official press release from the show and someone with an axe to grind disseminating the information.

There are rules in place at all shows and the avenue to protest. AND these rules are needed.
