Are foundation (Curren's Cows) is half way through our first year of sponsoring a Breeding Heifer project, along with the heifer project we sponsored a local high school kid and a steer project and are helping with another heifer to a local 4H member.
The young lady who received the original scholarship is doing quite well, she won showmanship at the Holiday Classic in Bakersfield, and placed high in her class in several other shows.
The young man with the steer will be attending his first show, their adviser likes them to attend at least one how before their county fair (in June). The steer project has been a real learning experience for the young man, he has had to deal with the steer having a sensitive stomach, ring worm, and now lice.  He has gotten the steer on track feed wise, the ring worm is gone and we will get the lice problem taken care of today.
The second heifer project, is just a commercial heifer, the young ladies cow slipped her calf and she ended up with out anything to show, so I am lending her a heifer I have, they have bonded quickly.

It has been quite an experience and we go we will be making changes to our program as we learn what works and what needs fixing.

Thank you everyone, I could not have asked for better people and families to start with.
Mark, here is the other picture of the 2, they bonded on day one. The young lady came to the house to check her out, I was not home, my wife said in less than 2 minutes she was rubbing and handling the her, running her hands down her legs. She put a halter on her and led her around. The heifer had not really been handled accept scratching her with a show stick.
