One trick is after you wash and rinse, use the water hose to train the hair.  Blow the hair forward just like you would with the blower.  Water actually seperates the individual hairs better than a comb, brush, or the blower would, and a lot of times these curls or waves are from the hair clumping together while you are trying to comb or brush.  After you have rinsed the hair forward, comb through it forward with a stimulator comb, then go to town on it with a rice root and whatever daily conditioner you use until you feel like your arm will fall off. Then blow him out. This has always worked well for me, and you can ussually really tell the difference when you comb after rinsing all the hair forward as opposed to just running the hose over them.

We have an Alias heifer that looks like she has this  O0.  No kidding lol.  I tried the wave tamer...it worked ok but its pricey.  Try fogging the calf with alcohol, really brush it in then blow.  It seems to really help our heifer.

Thanks Gidget, might just have to give this one a try too.  I don't know where this calf got this funky hair from, he is a Heatwave / Hoo Doo...not really sure where it comes from.  Thanks for the help!

I bet he got it from HooDoo...ours is an Alias and he's a HooDoo too

someone may have already said this but I read the first post and jumped to an answer...mix whatever you use on him kleen sheen etc. half and half with vinegar.  within a week you should notice it getting better.  Vinegar is good for everything from conditioning to being a cheap dilutant.  if we put it on a calf it is half vinegar, and it works.  The vinegar is less than $2 per gallon i think and actually makes for a better product that you are putting on the calf.

;D  Thank you very much for all of the advice from all of you "hair warriors", I have printed out everything that has been written and I am going to try a few different approaches to this calves crazy hair!  Hopefully in a couple of weeks I can post a better picture with his hair looking better!  Thanks again...Steerplanet Rocks!!  Lisa

I had success combing the hair at a 45 while blowing his hair in the same direction..like someone else mentioned it helps keep the hair separated.
