Got a small framed steer going to Fort Worth in 30 days.  He presently ways 1110 and because of his short size he needs to show in class 4 or on Thursday.  With this said he can't get over 1165 because he is already at the top end of the 4th class exotic weight break.  He looks really good but I just want to add a little more cover without adding significant weight.  He still gaining 4 lbs plus per day so I have cut his ration back to meet our target weight. Is there anyway to hold him and add fat cover.  Presently feeding 18 lbs per day of ration plus max e glo rice bran.  Probably need to cut him back more.  I am reluctant to feed beet pulp because he already has a tremendously deep gut.  Any thoughts?

Stabilized Rice Bran is the best thing that I have found for adding cover, but it seems you are already feeding that.

To my knowledge, there isn't anything else that will accomplish what you are trying to do.

For the sake of conversation, the best advice I ever received (and followed) concerning a post like this was really simple.  Worry a whole lot more about how your steer looks than jockeying weights to try to get into desired class.  Maybe you end up on the class you want to be in and your steer doesn't look nearly as good as he would have if you just showed him in the class he would have naturally fallen into.

I haven't seen your steer and don't know all of your motivations.  Don't take my comment wrong because I am certainly not intending it that way.

Good luck in Ft Worth!!!
