Homeade Show Boxes

Has anyone tried to make a homeade show box or had one built.  We had a steel one built about 10 years ago and it is on its last leg and I really do not like it.  My husband and I cannot see spending $1000 to buy the new one we would like at Sullivans.  Nothing against them as we have bought many many items from them just seems a little expensive and was wondering if anyone has found someone to build them.

Good idea. A good trim carpenter ought to be able make you a nice one.

I'll be pretty straight forward I've built probably 12 or more show boxes most the upright dolly style. I don't think you'll find one much cheaper than the commercial ones out there. Mine were all custom built to order, and I undersold myself when I took my hours into them I made like $5 a hour on a $650-700 show box.

Thanks auburnviewfarms.  We were afraid of that.  I believe we paid something like $375 to have ours built ten years ago. We have had it repainted twice by an auto body shop and it continues to rust and it tipped over in a friend of ours trailer last state fair and the door is bent now.

We found a new French door style dolly Sullivan box for $600 on Facebook. If you keep an eye out, deals like that can be had. Took it to a couple of shows so far and it's the best money I've spent in years. We use one of our chest style boxes for a set up box and to keep randomness kinda wrangled, such as purses, kids toys, snacks, vet box, etc.

We found a used one on Craigslist.  There are some Buy Sell Trade sites thru facebook that are specifically for stockshow related items.  I have bought and sold items on them.  Shop around and be patient; you should be able to find something and save $$$
