We trim as needed or to help a problem if there is one. We do atleast a couple weeks before a show but we also watch how much we trim one to. They can get very sore.

We trim hooves at least 2 weeks before we plan to show. This gives plenty of time for them to adjust from the trim. A good hoof trimmer can really help correct some feet issues and how they walk and stand. On the other hand a bad hoof trim can really mess a calf up. Check around and find someone with lots of experience and ask for some references .

It all depends on the calf. We're showing a steer this weekend and just did his tonight. As the guy who does our hoof trimming refers to them if they are  a puss or not(pardon my language) on how soon we have to do it before a show

OK thanks! I will probably have our steers done 2-3 weeks before the show!! :)
Have they ever had them done before?

If not, I would recommend that you go ahead and get it done now, and then repeat at least 3 weeks prior to your show.
