Tonight stacking my new feed delivery, I got to looking at all the feed labels. and noticed my horses SR. feed has 10% fat. I have a dairy feeder steer that isnt putting on weight with his grower feed and hay the feed has a 5% fat. Well my question is has anyone ever fed a steer horse feed?  He has been dewormed and is eating everything, I am using Honor Show Chows Power Fuel but I have to keep special odering it and its more pricey than a bag of my horses triple crown sr feed. Any advice ???

You could get some stabilized rice bran. Its a horse supplement. Depending on which one you get one has 18% fat and the other 22%. We have a herf steer thats been on it for awhile and it has changed him. We buy ours at Rural King and it runs  around $23 for a 40lb bag. Good stuff

I have fed our cows horse feed if we ran low and couldn't get the usual before we ran out.  I havent had problems with it.  It should be fine and should work just fine...Hey everything is worth a shot!  If it is a textured feed the steer will probably eat it better as well

Do Not feed your horse feed!  Stay with your ration, and Top Dress with the Stabilized Rice Bran 1-2 pounds daily.  It will do great things for his hair also.

On our Market steers we always stood by crocked corn & barley mixed with golden flo in a crock pot then rationed into 2-4 oz baggies and a baggie would be fed each feeding.

4 oz. does not seem like much....that's a total of only one cup per day.  Is that all it takes??

The cooked corn and barley work, but has a tendency to make them hot.  Golden Flo is great as well.  I have always stood behind and had best luck with the stabilized rice bran, and like AAOK said it will also do wonders for their hair.
I would NOT feed the steer horse feed, not that it would necessarily hurt your steer, but you will most likely not see the results from it that you are thinking.  When you feed a bagged feed that feed is balanced, or complete, meaning that it contains all the nutrients needed for survival in correct proportion to each other.  Horse feeds list protein and fat content just like cattle feed, but remember they are formulated differently due to the way the animals digest.  The way a horse digest is pretty different from how a cow digest, so just because it has that percentage doesnt mean they are going to get it. Beyond having the nutrients in them the nutrients have to be in the correct proportion and in the correct form for them to be able to digest them.
I would stick with your ration and get some Stabilized Rice Bran
