Just was interested in your breeding process. after looking at the herd bulls, I think some are as nice as AI sires on the market.

I am pretty sure some of them are AI sires ;D, we do a combo, we AI my clubcalf herd, and we use herd bulls on our commercail herd, We run registered polled herefords and a couple angus bulls, next time I see the bulls by the tanks I will get pictures of them (cow)

We want our commercial bulls closely related to each other - ET brothers if possible - it helps keep the calf crop uniform.

About 1/4 of our herd sometimes a little more are synced for embryo's and are used as recips.  We AI up until we get to the end of March calving and then we put the bull in.  We target the end of Feb. 1st of March calves so anything that calves late goes with the bull to try and get them moved up.

Ditto, but ours arent ET's they are noarmally half brothers, or at least from the same cow family

We have never been any good at heat detection at our place so it has been crucial that we have top herd sires. The only time we use ai is for our ET program. Before our Red Count bull the two bulls we had were both 2 time All-Americans. The Voyager bull was the champion bull at the Ill. State fair and was second in class to Fear Factor the year he won Louisville. At the same time we had a THF son of DV and 3127 we were using. Before those 2 bulls we had Studley who was a Louisville Champ and Res. bull at Denver.

We're just small time but we AI them all. Don't have enough cows or room for a bull. We heat sync so we can narrow the window of when we need to watch for heat. Try to get them to show heat on the weekend when we are around all day.

We use our herd bull because we have not had any luck with AIing. We tried AIing this year and I am keeping my fingers crossed that come Aug. 28th we get our first AI calf.

We AI everything or hand-breed to the bulls for the first cycle as they come around (no heat synching). The bulls go out for the second cycle so we can check back out AI'ing and stay out for the third cycle so we can check back anything that missed AI and got bred to the bulls in the second cycle. We normally only try to keep those that were bred in the first and second cycle so as to limit the calving period to 42 days unless they were a recip cow that lost her egg and was bred again in the third cycle.
