Ok, this is a morbid thread! I was thinking today since it's about the anniversary of my grandmother's passing. My family does not do viewings & both the hubby & I agree. At her funeral they had a bagpipe player walk in at the last of the ceremony. it was so touching because she was very proud of her Scottish heritage. she actually went to Scotland in her 90's!

My grandfather was cremated & his ashes scattered over his farm. Somehow I see that being my choice except it would be in our cow pasture.

My other grandmother donated her body to the OSU medical school. there was no body to be buried. Don't like that idea but I am an eye, tissue & organ donor.

anyone else ever give this a thought or am I just weird?

My mom died when she was 49, I'm 48 and that definitely scares me. She had a long battle with cancer. My dad had a series of strokes and dementia, he was in a nursing home for about 9 months.
I pray I last long enough to be a part of my children's adult life. I see them married and get to hold my grandchildren.
Then, I'd like to go quickly and peacefully laying in a lounge chair on the beach with a fufu drink in my hands  :)

I like your style, box6!!  My kids (well, ok, they're not kids anymore!) know that my wishes are to be cremated and then scattered either in the Tetons (if either of them are still able to climb up that high) or in Cache Creek, east of Jackson, WY, in the Bridger Teton Nat'l Forest.  After the cremation, but probably before the scattering, they're supposed to have a "helluva" party with a live country band to send me on my way!  Cache Creek is where I scattered the ashes of my dear little Westie, Cody, after he died.  Picture of that is here.  I was blown away by how white his ashes were - just like him in life!  Ugh, I'm getting all teary just thinking of him!

My husband had an amazing German Shorthair Pointer dog named Murphy. He was one of those once in a lifetime dogs. When he died we had him cremated. My husband can't find the right place to put Murphy's ashes so he rides in a tin underneath his truck seat. We all get a good chuckle when he hits the brakes and Murphy sides out. We all say hi to him  :)

I'm sure you would like to have a bud light in your hand when you go dusty, maybe a mouthful of steak so hammered you can't keep your eyes open.  lol .  Maybe we could throw em up in the air, let your brother shoot em with a shotgun, then georgie could lead her show heifer through them.    (clapping)

I"m going to speak for RSC.  I know he wants to go while he's standing in a booth in Denver.  Finest display bull anyone has ever seen hell be leaning up against.  And he raised him .  All by his lonesome.  Be such a crowd around him they'll have stock show security cops directing traffic.  Hell have his scotch comb out a brushin on him, a busch light in each of his coat pockets cause the beer at the stand is so damnd expensive.  and that'l be all she wrote.

RW -- you and I think "ALOT" alike pard.

Last year -- for some reason yet unknown, I had this very conversation with my boys.

They all know I love a good horse, and I have one of the best that's just turning 4 this spring. By the time he gets too old to use, I will be well into my 70's. So I told them this -- I don't want to ever have to worry about having some one come to my "CARE" room to see if I am - well -- clean. If I ever get to the point where I can't take care of myself, I ain't going to no senior care center. Just strap me on Dunny's back -- with no bridle or anything else -- and we'll go off together.

I would consider it an honor to go out with one of my best friends ever!

My Mom died when she was 53 shortly after she got to hold her first Grandchild (lung cancer never smoked a day in her life). I use to be scared of dieing till she passed away. Now it doesn't bother me; just hope I pass away before my children do. Hopefully in my sleep.

Stumpy, you get 1st prize.

Dusty, your a close 2cnd. But have (all) your brothers ready in case the first misses.

TJ, don't be too funny! We just might get caught up in the Rapture, boots on, tippin' our Stetson with one hand, and holdin' the hand of our little girl with the other. Terry, it'd be cool if that happened off the back of a horse.
