We are in Texas and we have been to SA and the HLSR showing a Simmental heifer and in SA an exhibitor working with a steer jock won the simbrah show with a red angus heifer. In Houston the same steer jock and another family won the Simmental show with a animal that clearly wasn't a Simmental. What is going on I would think the assoc. Would want to correct some things. Any comments.

Sadly you can paper anything in any almost association.  You just need a set of cow papers, living or dead.

Someone a while back lamented that breed character is a thing of the past.    Now almost all breeds share the same phenotype.  There are few differences in the breeds so one can show against another.

40 years ago I showed early Simmentals and they were red/white or yellow/white.  They showed almost dairy character due to selction for their heavy milking ability.
Now they are black and look like Angus, Maines or any other combination of black and white.  Few are feminine as they used to be.

Be careful in what you state on open forums like this about some of these folks cheating.  Makes you sound like a whiner and opens the door for a lawsuit.

Did you post your money to protest the show?  If not, it is too late, they won.

My first question is how can you say she was obviously not a Simmental? She looked more Simmental than half the other calves, ball faced, white markings and a deep red? Just my two cents.

That heifer came out of Bloombergs herd, and is most definately Simmental.  And she has been cleaning house most of the year.  I dont like a cheater anymore than anyone else, but that heifer is just flat good.  I have no connection with Rash, the Gey family, or any of the others involved.  That is a good heifer, and in the Simbrah deal, you really cant say anything based on looks, because phenotype runs the gammet in that breed.
I dont know anything about the Simbrah heifer, but I will echo what was said earlier.  Be careful what you accuse people of on an open forum, unless you have hard facts.  It could come back to bite you in the rear, and just makes you look like a bitter loser.

Be careful about the accusations in this public forum.  You may want to delete your post ASAP.
If they can buy the cattle, hire a fitter and 'steer jock' and haul to the show, they can hire a lawyer and will own your farm and cattle.
Posting a protest at the show is another matter.

The Simmental heifer is legit. Emory has already won every Major in the Junior Angus deal. Better get used to getting beat by them in any breed cause he has 3 years left and little sis has 7.

Plenty of downright shady things have taken place within the show industry.  Anytime $$$ & prestige are the key driving factors behind something, people will be tempted to do all sorts of things to gain an advantage.  Some cave in to temptation & some do not.  I don't think that anybody would deny that.  Also, plenty of perfectly honest mistakes have happened too.

I know absolutely nothing about this situation, but there are a lot of possibilities that could explain whatever your reason for concern is and several of those possible scenarios are that the breeder, owner and fitter/s are all innocent of any wrong doing.

Keep this in mind...

It is a terrible thing to be falsely accused of something!  Even if you think that you MIGHT be right, anytime you speculate, you MIGHT actually be VERY WRONG!

I can't speak on the simbrah, but the simmi at Houston is legit. My only problem with her is I didn't buy her when I had the chance

That Simmi is just flat out good. She is one of the few that actually looks like a real original red & white Simmental. That is a beautiful heifer & based on the herd she came out of I am positive she is a real Simmi. Do not know the family but have seen a lot of good feedback on that heifer. Congrats to Emory & "Lois"!

I don't know anything about the heifer in question but the most dishonesty in registering heifers in any breed, Simmental included, is fudging on the birth date.  Next to that, fudging on the birth weight, or just plain guessing.  That said, there are lots of good, honest breeders that don't cheat.

IMO.  If you have  a problem with a registered animal take it up the with appropriate association.    A public forum is not the right venue to pursue.

Online defamation acts only protect you from libelous suits in the fact that the person filing suit for defamation is assuming you are talking about them but there is not enough proof in the statements or actions to prove it.  In this instance they gave enough information for everyone to know exactly who it is they were talking about here, so they are not necessarily protected.  Things stated on the internet are not only fair game for slander or defamation acts, they actually stand up more than some other cases.  The reason is, even if this person was to delete this post right now, because it is on the internet there will ALWAYS be a traceable record of it, it can never be completely undone.
Now that being said, I dont think they should worry about a law suit, one I think the family involved is above that kind of action.  Secondly, as was stated earlier that the people that have the kind of money to own that heifer also have the kind of money to sue, those people are at the same time smart enough to realize that someone posting negatively about them in an online forum isnt going to hurt them.  Anyone who has ever made it to the top in anything knows that no matter how honestly you achieve success, there will always be nay sayers trying to tear you down, so you just have to learn to let it roll off your shoulders.

You will never hear me whine about getting beat by a superior animal- but in the same light, you don't want to be around me when I get beat by an ear tag with someone name on it.

I apologize.  I shouldn't have raised this in a public forum. The judge picked an awesome heifer as champion. The Internet sometimes brings out the worst in people.

Show stopper 95 I think you should clarify in your post that Chad Oates and The Geye family were not involved with a Simbrah heifer at San Antonio. Your quote is more slanderous than the original topic of this tread.
