Just wondering what everyone is dealing with for weather right now?
We are getting quite a dump of snow at the moment now, but not as much as some north of us and to the west and southern AB. Heard there is a few big ranches in AB along the US border that have lost hundreds of new calves and cows are 15 miles from where they were left.
We have had to bring almost all our cows back in because we have mostly new tame pastures and they are a way too soft and were getting pounded out.
Better than dust blowing but sure don't like to see this much white stuff in May.Not exactly a great day for AI'in and implanting embryos.

Our weather down here in south Florida is very hot and humid!! All the calves are loosing their hair like crazy and all they want to do is stand in the water buckets.

Sunny, 75, and a slight breeze here in central Illinois....it'll get real windy or real hot soon though I'm sure!  The calves are putting on the shag for summer  <rock>

The forecast today is 91 in east central Oklahoma.  The SW part of the State will be flirting with 100.  Getting mighty dry here for this time of year.

We are super windy with 45 mph gusts from the north. Our weather is very erratic right now, one day 80, next day 60, next day 80, near freezing next night.  Wait, what am I saying....I live in Kansas....our weather is always erratic.  The wind, though, has been really strong for several days now. That gets old fast.

Same weather here...  I'm so tired of this wind..    An SUV went into our field yesterday - probably blown around by the wind.  I know this because I was fighting the wind in mine yesterday too.

What part of the state are you in? How does the wheat look? People around Frederick/Chatty area said it could use a drink. This wind isn't helping anything with the shallow roots it was able to use this winter.

Well we've had about a foot of snow in the the last day, most of it was melting as it came down yesterday.  Got cold enough overnight that it quite melting, had about 8 inches on the ground this morning.  Between that and the 2 inches of rain just before it is a real sloppy mess around here, worse than after the spring thaw thats for sure.

If we had a foot of snow in May, I'd probably cry.  Heck, we're almost done with planting...only a few hundred acres of beans to go....then its time to start mowing hay and getting ready for wheat!

Ada area.  No wheat around here.  Used to be lots of peanuts, but all the farmers got rich from getting paid not to plant.  Some of that land is now producing grapes.  Lots of small wineries around here.

[/quote) Mow hay??..........This may be a dumb question but when do you start haying and how many cuts in a season?
If we had to start soon I would never be ready. If we start June 25 that is a little early some years and where we are if we were to take a second cut we chance winter kill.

We'll start haying before June I imagine, and we'll get 3 cuttings off of 80% of what we mow. We mow roadsides for square bales, and waterways in the fields for round bales..and then we have a few actual hay fields.  Last year we put up about twice what we needed, but it sure is nice to have now!

About 4" of snow here, been 27F to 34F or so.

I hope it warms up soon!

Our drought appears to be over, we have enough moisture now that if the sun does ever come out and it warms up, grass should grow!

92 degrees, not too much humidity for Houston, but we could use some rain.  The cracks are starting to open up in the pastures.  Pretty soon I'll be able to see through to China!  Can't believe I'm wishing for rain after the wet winter we had, but it doesn't take long to bake off around here.

Corn planted getting close on the beans if it would stop raining.  Hay should have been cut last week Orchard grass is headed out and clover and alfalfa is blooming.  It has been kind of a weid year with all the planting in early April.  Last year with all of the rain we didn't even start planting Corn until May 20th.  Still made 200 plus bushels though so if we get the rain this sumeer yields should be great.

Ideal weather to recover from what some are calling a 1000 year flood. We've had 5 days of 80+ degrees, low humidity and sunshine.
