How good are their facilities?  Are they bringing them up to the chute or do you have your own help?  How long do you think it will take?

The man is gonna buy all the supplies and it will be three of us working them. The facility is a brand new wooden corral and tarter chute system. He has right at 35 cows calves included. We speculate 4 to 5 hours to work them all. Start at 7:30/8ish and be done by lunchtime roughly

in my circle of friends, we do this to help each other and criticize each other on the quality or lack of it for food, like donuts, coffee, or burritos, quality of working facilities, where they sell their cattle, what bull is used, the size of the cows, how wild they are, who showed up at what time, who's in the way. all in good fun as once in a while, newbies are welcome and are helped out for a while by everyone. when you started getting criticized, you are part of the "team".

look around the place.  anything you can use and barter?  maybe they can help you in a pinch. maybe you can find a way to upgrade something else for them for money.  working cattle to me is more a relationship building tool. 35 head seems rather small to worry about. maybe it's different in your area than in mine.

I would be surprised if it took much over 2 hours max  with good facilities and 3 people. We usually have the vet plus 3 people as we are cutting calves giving them  3 shots pouring everything and giving cows 2 shots and pouring and we did 40 cows plus calves but had a tub w/alley that holds 5 and  it took about 2 hours. Depends what you think two hours of your time is worth.
