Is there a shortage of Dairy cows or what? Is the Middle East hoarding them too?

2% in NW Missouri is $4.02 at Dollar General...cheapest we've found.  Husband joked that I may have to milk one of the cows soon....

On sale with $25 purchase 2/$6.00..........didn't fuel go down?  Normally 2% is 3.89.  The one thing that drives me nuts is that around here, Sam's Club: $2.89 per gallon, Walmart: 4.69/ gallon.  Arent they all owned by Sam Walton.  Way to gouge the Walmart shopper!!

I grew up on a dairy / beef operation.  When I left home, said I would never milk another cow ever.  Ran out of tuition money and milked for the university a couple of years.  Grew up ,  got a good job, bought my uncle's ranch, run some nice cows that do not need to be milked.  Milk would have to reach $10/gallon before I find the old milk stool.  Am I a spoiled brat?  YESSSS!

In all seriousnes, with the current trend in corn prices, I am surprised it is not higher.    Have a great day folks! ;)

$3.96 at Krogers Sunday for skim milk.
Gads, I might have to start stealing milk from one of the dairies pretty soon. Maybe that will get them to pay their bills on time! ;)

2 gallons of 1-2 skim or whole for 6 bucks.  A single gallon will cost ya $3.89.  People around here selling goat milk for $10.00 a gallon.  I tried it and it is ok, but then my ole brain kicks in and I start grossing out about it coming from a goat......HMMM  I honestly do not know what the difference is other then one has 2 spigets and the other 4.  I poured what I could not bring myself to drink in the carton of cows milk with only a swallow in it.  My husband came home poured himself a big cold glass of milk and did not even notice the difference..... (lol)  I still havent told him because he would be REALLY mad.

Speaking of milk......I work for Hiland Dairy Foods. Hiland is part of the whole "quality check'd" network, outa Carlinville, Illlinois. Heck! we even bottle some Prairie Farms milk, and send it all the way back to Illinois, from right here, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I load and unload trucks, all night long. Pays pretty good, too. Started at $14.95 an hour. Average wage around here, in NW Arkansas, is about $9.50. I make more now, as a blue-collar worker, than I have ever made using my degree.

You know, those square plastic milk cases? The ones that say "felony for possession by unauthorized user" ( even though we all had at lest three in our parents' garage when we were growing up ) ? They come out of the plant stacked 6 or 7 high, and we drag them across the floor with a hook on the bottom one,and our hand on the top one. What a workout! At the end of a shift, I'm tired!

By the way, the Great Value milk is the EXACT same Moo-juice, as the Hiland or Prairie Farms milk. The only thing I'll say about Sam's is, they order their milk from us, and we have to put it on retail racks, then load the racks onto our trucks.

Is a hog's back leg "ham"? I took home, after taxes, $776.37, week before last. In the period of time I was a salaried manager at George's, I only took home $356.00, working the same amount of hours. There's also some value to just doing your time, and, going home.
