Hey guys here is a heifer that I had for sale on here and never sold so I turned her out to the pasture and getting ready to breed her around june probably. She is a March 2010 OCC Legend X Carney Man/Alias. I have thought about breeding her ali, an ali son, Jakes Proud Jazz, or American first calf so just looking for lightbirthweights and some quality.  Thanks.

Have you considered Dirty Harry or Dirty Harry 2? You could add some serious power, hair and structure out of a bull that will not be to hard on your first calver!

I'd breed her back Angus to something from the Ohlde genetics to keep adding depth to her calves.  That could work for you (something more than market) in two ways:
1.  Heifer calf would have a good chance to make a replacement female.
2.  Steer calf would have a good chance to class Angus.

You already have Maine and potential structure issues in her (even though it might not show in her) from the WMW/Alias and Witch Doctor influence.  A calving ease Maine is certainly an option on her, but I just get leery of structure troubles with a lot of the Maine stuff out there on these kind of girls.  If I were to use Maine, I'd give Tyson a try.  In my case, I actually used Montego Bay last fall on several heavily Angus-influenced, crossbred heifers.

We have cows like that also.  What I'm doing with ours is using purebred Charolais, show-oriented bulls on them for their later calves.

I have thought Tyson and also going angus I just dont know when angus bull I would use also having that much color in the pedigree kinda bothers me on betting that she throws a solid black calf for the angus. I will either use sexed angus, and ali son the first round and if she doesnt stick Ill have her bred to hammer for a dallas abc. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I would take a serious look at Troubador... We have a Sept. show steer out of a cow with similiar breeding as your heifer and man o' man...This is one I'm really enjoying feeding out... better and better

potenially is not good enough on this one for me she is pretty dang good better in person and maybe a donor for slick shearing simbrahs possibly brahmans but not really wanting to go that way but i know this one would throw some super good americans and good exotics but i love playing the eared game! I was thinkin about keeping her exotic since her first calf will be late spring born for the county fairs and texas state fair

So is the word on the street that his -1 BW listed in his EPD'S are not that accurate?  or are you looking for something a little safer?

He saying that the heifer is too good to take any unnecessary chances.

My thoughts were running along the same lines as Chambero as far as using OCC or Duff genetics to soften her up and give her more rib. If you were to use a Char. bull, I think that you'll need to find a softer looking kind of a bull or she may have a tube gutted one.

CAB exactly what i was thinkin and she is steery ribbed so I need to find something to either soften her up for females or keep her about the same. And rack not saying she is great but I also have been around the charolais for a while and the -.1 bw epd isnt saying an entire lot to me as the breed average is way large than some of the other breeds. She might be one to work with troubadour but ill have to try that later down the road. What angus/ sim type bulls you other guys thinkin?

In my experience with these bulls your talking about  I think I would use TROUBADOR, Troubador ISN'T PROVEN ,BUT SO WHAT i HEAR GUYS BRAGGING ABOUT ali AN have seen some bad wrecks with him.  AS far as Charolais EPD'S  IF THEIR - they should work ,I know mine do , but I hate to use a Charolais bull over +2 for my cows .... Some people use MADRID an he is over +7 ....  You also want to remember those EPD'S  are just help ,,,,most times ...We used a NEW EDITION son last year for cleanup , I raised him an last time I looked he was around a +2  , looked this winter and he  was 4+ ,calved XBREDS,aNGUS AN cHAROLAIS  WITH help on one backwards calf ....One of my friends had a HW heifer bred to him and thinks she is one of his best heifer calves ..... +4 heifer bull

I would not use DH2... The calves ive seen have been really nice, but seem to be huge. And I beleive I heard that Matt Lautner said he would use him on 2nd calvers, and Jesse James on 1st calvers.

I agree with Chambero, I saw Montego Bay, his sister and his dam at Zane Mai's place last week and that is one good family.

Bull, heifer or steer- ZNT Montego Bay is one of the interesting bulls out there, IMO. No matter what you get, the potential that bull has is hard to beat. I am familiar with the cow family. Very maternal. From calving ease, to the females being good momas (the first calf heifers milk well and really take care of their babies),  he is an all- around great bull that is well designed. Just a very high quality bull.

I use an occ legend son on all my 1st calvers very small and hit the ground running the heifers breed back quick but am think of trying to AI  some this fall looking at MR. Driven charolais bull buddy of mine bought a heifer from Kris Black that calved last fall and the steer turned out nice sold for a fair amount of money but the most important thing is to have a live calf and get your heifers to breed back on time  jmo
