Try to use the search function here on the Planet. There are numerous threads that pertain to syncing cows/heifers. Also most if not all sire directories have different sync protocols listed in the back.

I can tell you how I have been doing it for the past several years and it has worked really well for me.  I take any of my cows that are 45 days post calving and put a CIDR in them on a Wednesday evening and I give them a shot of GnRh (Cytorellin or Fertagyl).  Then the following Wednesday evening I pull the CIDR's and give a shot of Lute.  Most of my heats will then fall on a Friday evening or Saturday morning when I am not working and have more time to AI them.

Anything that does not show a heat, I will hit them with another shot of GnRh and let them alone for 2 weeks and then try it again if they haven't show a natural heat in that time frame.

Not sure how everyone else does it but this works pretty well for me.

I am not able to stay with and watch most of the cattle I AI so I time AI...find I have highest conception rates with the following protocol.
Day 1 - Give Shot of Cystorelin and put CIDR in.
Day 8-  Give Shot of Lut and Pull CIDR
54-60 hours post pulling CIDR AI them and give a 2nd Shot of Cystorelin
If I am able to watch them for heat I follow the same protocol but instead of breeding at 54-60 hours I watch them to see first signs of standing.  I AI and give a shot of Cystorelin 12 hours after first signs of standing heat and if I have the semen available and its not super expensive semen I may put a 2nd straw in them 12 hours after the first one.
