My new steer chews his tail a lot so he has no tail switch and most of his lower tail is nearly bald, anyone had the same problem and found something that works?

Try putting hot sauce on itl. And make sure he has some mineral to lick on.

Use Crib-Halt for horses...apply with gloves to switch....good deterrent!

Make sure there is not another reason for the tail chewing like skin irritation or lice or something like that first

We had a heifer doing that.... turned out to be a tick that I had missed.  Tough booger!

I just came from the barn and while I was there I re-examined his tail. I think he may have ringworm but it's hard to tell since where it is. Should I put the ringworm stuff on (I use Blue Lotion for ringworm) or just put the stuff to deter him from chewing?

If it helps- both calves on either side of me have ringworm, and most of the calves in the barn have ringworm so there is a high chance that he has it.

Treat for it and watch him. He might have a secondary irritation that you'll have to take care of.
