Some people talked about how a expensive heifer should or is expected to be flushed. Well my question is how much is everyones magic number? I do not want to know how much people are paying on their heifers. This still dosnt mean she would be flushed as a heifer, she may have a calf first.Thats still up to the owner. Its just fun to dream sometimes.
Mine would be 10,000. If I am paying that for a heifer I would expect her to be good enough to be flushed.

Depends on what other cattle a person has......  If someone is new to the game, a 5k heifer and recipes from a sale barn might be the cheapest way to get respectable good fast.    If someone is established with a pasture full of cows that are 8k and up quality,  It might take a significantly better heifer.    Just how I would look at it.  We flushed my first purebred limi show heifer twenty some years ago, only got two eggs, one took, so it was a lot of extre work and expense for one extra calf out of her for the year.  A heifer that we kept for a cow.  Never flushed her again because of the low number of eggs.  She was not that expensive,  Would probably be a 5-6k heifer by today's dollars, but she was better then what we had.  He natural calf that year became our herd bull and that calf made a huge economic and quality impact in our herd.  Decided to spend money on bulls instead of flushing her again.

I don't see how you would flush one heifer after one calf? Especially if you bought her from some one else. Unless someone told you she was a real cracker jack deal. That this heifer was probably the best ever raised in this herd......or this cowline is really royal....sound as a dollar.....really special........selling her ONLY beacause they have a full sister....or I'd rather own her than show against her.....there may be something to that deal. Just own every heifer in the heifer show and you will win.

I'd say 10,000 dollars. However I think that the price of gold to silver is a factor.GPN adjusted to inflation is important also but 1983 calculations are different than the 2010 forulas also.. Also corn price in relationship to wheat on a price per busheel and and relative feeding value is a INDICATOR and an INDICATOR only......because of volitile conditions in Australia drought data and Columbiia's canabus quality analysis.
