anybody else with me??? we have rain every day. our cow lot became such a mess that we turned them out into a little section of our pasture, and OMG did they run and jump an kick and play. from the biggest cows to the smallest babies were doing hot laps around the pasture. it was so hilarious!!!  ;D  then it was pouring rain, and now the pasture is starting to get muddy. oh what FUN.  :p  ::)

It seems like a lot of people are complaining about it being to dry in there area, so I don't think there are going to be a lot of people with you on this.  Right now we have been getting rain of and on for a while, so it isn't to wet or to dry here.

I am with you this year.  It seems to be feast or famine for us.  We have gone from two of the driest years on record to two of the wettest.  I guess that averages out to be average ???  But unfortunately it seems that we are always two weeks away from a drought  I don't believe that the drought will catch us this year though.

I just feel for the South East.  They are unbelievably dry.

everyone else can have all the rain they want from us. we have plenty. now it's going to rain within the hour.

here's the life of our cows, going from their lot to the pasture on sunday, and then it rained again, again, again.

here's Lake McCorkel in our field that is just north of the house. it gets really deep within 15 feet of the edge. then it took 6 pictures to get a panoramic shot of the lake.

NHR - are they making much hay over your way?  We pretty much dried up right after everyone put fertilizer down.  It's getting a little scarce looking to your north and west.

we got 0.9 over the weekend. Up north they got 2.6". today we've gotten over .5" so far. Actually needed some. We've had to replant some corn that just was mudded in earlier.
Can't complain compared to those really dry.

Yeah, we've had quite a bit of rain, it rained this morning.  Can't really complain though..got all the crop in the ground and it's doing well.  It figures though...just put the first of our hay down yesterday..and it rains last night.  Oh well..bust out the ol Inverter and hope we can get it in before we get more rain.  Wish i could send our extra to those that need it!

Hey Minimoo,

We were in your neck of the woods on Sunday--well, kind of, we were in Boone for the Iowa Junior SH Show--and you're right,  there is a lot of water standing around down there.   My daughter was in Ames on Friday and they couldn't even get around town because of all the flooding.   We actually needed some rain in northern Iowa and we got from 2.5 to 4 inches in our area on Thursday.   It came slow though and most of it had soaked in by Sat.  I'm just glad the cold weather of the last several months seems to be over.   Too bad it took so many tornados to get it turned around.

Good luck with your mud!!

we woke at 5:30 this morning to a torrential downpour. 1.1" fell in just over an hour. my mom went to shut a large, crank-out window and the wind caught it, and the glass shattered. within a few seconds the floor was flooded 5 feet around the window.

When I milked cows or have had cattle confined, if it never rained on the lots that would be OK.... it would also make flies less of a problem...

BUT I LOVE RAIN..... we cannot seem to get any.  106 with 38 mph winds from the south west and it has been that way for 10 days.  I did not get a rain when Vernon and Wichita Falls did.  My young tender grass is burning up...  I fertilized it 3 weeks ago and then shredded the weeds.  No rain since..... wish you could share some with me......and others who need it.  I know I would share my dry weather with anyone who wanted it...

Joe Boy,  Wichita Falls was a mess last year at this time.  Were you that wet last year?  Isn't the Simmental Jr Nat'ls in Wichita Falls in a few weeks.  It will probably rain that whole week.  I know that last year the barns went under water on Saturday afternoon.  we pulled out Saturday morning and there wasn't much room to get out the water was so high. Weren't sure we would even get our show in on Friday.  We were worried that we would be taking cattle out of the barn in the middle of the night.  The tie out's were under water Thursday night.  Hope you get rain soon.

We would love to share some of our moisture.  Too much is as bad as too little.

If you send me some of that hated rain I will dance in the streets. We are not in much better shape than we were this time last year in the 50 yr. drought. I haven't been to bed before 1:30 a.m. in the last week because of irrigating.  :(

we not only got rain, but one heck of a hail storm.  One of the main dealerships here in town doesn't have a single vehicle that isn't damaged.  We got some hail over softball size.  And it is supposed to storm again tonight.  So much for putting up hay on my last week off.

Sorry about all of the water you folks have sitting around. Down here in Florida, were so dry my pastures are turning into sand dunes. We need some rain desperately, but with Hurricane season starting up, we have to be careful of what we wish for now. Problem is when we do get it, it comes down so fast and hard that it runs off before it has a chance to soak in. Right now, we have ponds that have never been so low.
