This is ISC sweetness she was a dominate show heifer for us last year and now were getting to flush her. All options are possible she is a Dr who out of an Ali x Meyer cow she is th and ph clean. She is one we feel can raise steers and heifers

i would flush her to smilin bob or walks alone i love the calves ive seen and she looks like she could use a little bit more power to the rear thats why i would choose walks alone he adds thickness  and muscle definition dont get me wrong i love this heifer but thats just what i see and only one opinion you could use wmw and walks alone to down size her to

Thanks for the input. Wouldn't use wmw since Dr who is a wmw son and she is very moderate and stout.  If i had to get picky she could have been a little longer strided.  But that happened the bigger she got.don't get me wrong she was still sound just that much power and body hard to get those legs all the way

You have all the bloodlines there to make "clubby" bred but you have percentage Maine. I guess if it were me, are you shooting for percentage maine stock or clubby calves. You could flush her both ways. There a ton and bunch of ways you can go Maine and obviously lots of clubby bulls. I think it will be interesting to see how the new class of clubbies turn out. Probably doesn't answer your question but food for thought.

Ya that's the kicker she's 49.5% Maine so even to a purebred she's still wouldn't be 3/4. But still not opposed to the purebred for heifers

breed her to one of bushy park farms bulls Mercedes Benz very showy calf with some thickness and soundness will give them a fancy neck and front or -- chill factor add soundness maybe some bone squareness and will give you a maternal calf but will still compete in the show ring! or even maverick(will add hair and length of stride from what ive seen) sooner (he wont add any power it will be about the same as the dam he will lengthen stride give them a real showy appearance)

Mercedez Benz I -80 and fortune and glory are my picks for purebreds guess im a lit bias with fortune and glory since i bougha the heifer from the guy who owns him but have seen smoking calves out of similar matings.monopoly seems like a good match but am starting to be torn between heat wave and eye candy?

For the maternal matting I wouldnt go I 80. Stacking who genetics is not good if ur trying to lengthen a stride or make club calf producing females. Same deal with Mercedes benz. He has who in him even more then I 80. Irish whiskey would be something to consider if you want club calf producing females. Hard drive would also be another option. There are a lot of different bulls you could use to produce maternal females. Just make sure you don't stack who on a who.

For club calf I would stay with the legend or the soon to be legend(heat wave and monopoly). If she won the Iowa state fair I would bet she is plenty sound enough for you to use heat wave or mono.

What did she have for a calf this year?

Thanks zak for that heads up i forgot that cow of those two were out of Dr who donors thought they were purebreds.  And she lost her calf so were gunna start flushing her sooner than expected. And they more i think about eye candy i would like to see a few mature champs. Calves look good but still unproven

I would stick with monopoly or heat wave. Whatever bull fits your cow better would be the best to go with. I would also ask jeff Paulson(cause you bought her from him) and see what he recommends. He would know her better then anyone of us on steer planet.

You could also try breeding her similar to how bushy park has bred what I think is by far there best donor 701p(mother of merceds benz and granddam of I 80).

I would stay away from eye candy or monopoly if you want any of the flushes or calves comin down south the monopolys are not stout enough to slick and the eye candys i have seen down here arent stout or big enough to be champions they are good cattle for sure but i think there are way better bulls to breed to other than follow the trends of everyone else. If everyone breeds to a bull and there are twenty calves out of the same bull in a class then the odds are for that bull. To keep her for heifers i think I-80 or mercedes would be a good click. I would agree with irish whiskey or heatwave though. Just my opinion.
