Had a calf (Carpe Diem x Shorthorn Heifer) that was born with a herniated small intestine. He was filled with vigor and energetic the first two days and the vet thought it might just be a sack of fluid which happens sometimes. We the third day he was just laying around all day and not sucking so we took him in to the vet, where they discovered what it really was. They did a surgery where they placed it back inside the calves stomach and the vet gave him a 50/50 chance. Well yesterday morning the calf would suck on the vets finger and was getting better so he told us that the calf could come home later that day. Later in the day we got a call saying the calf wouldn't suck his finger and the inside of his mouth was very cold and he was not energetic anymore......so now we are patiently waiting the report for today on how he is doing.
