Interactive Breeder Map

When you looking for next champion this fall, skip scrolling down a wall of text, visualize every breeder around you in this interactive map.

I will be fixing a few things over the next couples days that will allow you to click through to websites and display city/state in info box . 

Please note currently after adding your breeder listing, you won't immediately be added to the map.  I currently have to geocode your address to get the lat and long.  I will soon ad this query to the registration.  Your listing will appear immediately in directory and within a week on the map.

What about if you haven't come fully into the 21st Century yet and don't have a website? It won't let you register your farm.

Could you create a facebook page and use that?  Free?

Just enter in steerplanet.com for your website and that will allow you to have a listing on the map.  It also lists your phone #, so people will be able to track you down.

But, as cpubarn mentioned, facebook would be fine also.

I do apologize that your listing appears immediately in directory, but not on map.  When I built the submission form, I did not include query to geo code your address.  Google maps needs the lat and long to pinpoint your location, you can rely on google to do it at runtime, BUT with 140 listings, it would be slow.

So I pull out data of database, geo code it, and build a kml file.  I will eventually fix this to query at submission and make this an instant event.

Really gives a different perspective then just scrolling down a list.

I LOVE this map.

It is great to see who is close by, or in the area I'm already headed.

Just geocoded again, so everything in breeder directory is on map. 

This is great. I zoomed right down on my farm. Even has the neighbor right beside me building his new house. Very recent photo. I'll use this a lot. Thank you sir.  <beer>

Big oversight on my part to not include country and providence - I will get it fixed in next couple days.  Also you can enter steerplanet.com or website or enter your profile url - shown below.

Yes - same here...  Won't let me put Ontario in the Province drop down... only shows the US States.

Is there some significance to the pin for my farm being placed on the Mental Health Services Building in Weyburn, SK?  Just wondering???    When I registered prior to Jason making the changes to include Canadian provinces, it showed  my address as Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Alabama. I see some other Canadians have the same Alabama address. I  always knew that Texas was it's own country, but I didn't realize that Alabama had the same status!

Jason, is it possible to edit our profile once it is profiled? I tried to change my country from "Alabama" to "Canada" and also tried to move my pin to where my farm is ( from where it is now located ... on the Mental Health Services bldg in Weyburn)  but have not been able to figure out how to do it. Any suggestions?

I will go through fix all Canada address with Alabama on it, since there were no provinces prior, I think people just left the state drop down alone, which defaulted to bama.
