Is it scours?

Got a bull calf will be 8 weeks old Thursday.  Been healthy as can be, today noticed he's got a white butt.  I've seen scours but they've always
been the yucky green color.  Could it be scours?  Grass is coming on, so didn't know if maybe mom's milk is too rich.  Also, sometimes with
horses if mom is in heat it affects the milk and baby - does this happen with cattle as well?  No other symptoms, walks good, drinking water,
nibbling hay, eyes clear not seeming distressed at all. Haven't checked temp yet.  I'll sure be glad to hear any ideas - fairly new to sick
cattle. Thanks everyone - you all are the best!

Okay after some internet research looks like it could be milk scours OR it could be something serious like ecoli. Anyone out there have any
experience with this?  (Yes I'm going to call the vet)

Yes it sounds like a mild scours. The combination of new grass and the cow's heat cycle could be affecting him. As long as the calf is active no need to get real concerned. we like to use pepto-bismol to clear it up.

I THINK ecoli only happens within the first 48 hours of birth.

Thanks for the responses so far.  I may try the pepto trick.  Mom's bag is full so I know he's not eating well - for good reason maybe. Animals
can be pretty smart that way.

Shortdawg you are the guru.  Started boluses this morning.  Turns out it was ecoli. We're just lucky he's not gotten dehydrated,
must have caught it in the early stage.

If your housing the animal in the barn I would turn it out as soon as you can.  Never had a sick animal outside.
