Could better tell from rear view.. from the shows we have been to this year the breeding heifers that have been winning have more frame size and not a lot of width.

NICE grooming. Beautiful heifer either way.

I get confused any more. Depends on what show and the judge it seems like anymore. I have seen heifers super powerful and lots rib etc win and then the complete contrast flatter made more feminine.

I like her either way. Think it depends on judge. I think she could go either way depending on breed or xx bred for heifer show.

Thank you for the feedback.

This is the first year that we have been pulling a heifer, and it is tougher than I thought it was going to be.

The problem with this particular heifer is that she is small and immature.  If we show her breeding, she will get stomped on for being too little, and she isn't quite far enough along to start pouring the feed to her.

Time will tell.  We are going to let her grow a little longer, and then start feeding her harder.

In my opinion every heifer starts out as a breeding heifer with the exception of free martins. It's up to the owner and feeder as to which way yu want to go with her. As well as your program. I like her think she is a real solid calf either way you go with her.

I like her too. Shes the type i used to tote around when I showed. 5 years ago on the jackpot circuit she was a breeding her, now a days i think she would need an extra rip a tick more frame to be a breeding heifer. They tend to like those breeding heifers real Angus made and the clubby heifers in the market division. If shes sound shes fine. Hold on to her, with racey bulls like i-80 you can make a breeding heifer out of her and with bulls like yellow jacket and th free HW sons you can make steers too. Keep showing her, one judge is going to like her enough!! Great heifer IMO

I like and agree with your comment about breeding heifers being real Angus made today.  It seems to be the case.

She is plenty sound right now.  She isn't nearly as big boned as she looks all glued up.

Thanks

Looks like a nicely presented heifer. To me a true market heifer should look just like the steers.Breeding heifers need to be have a broody look and a longer flatter muscle,be sound and be feminine and have an attractive ring presence.Yours looks to be moderate and thick. The judge will be main factor. We used to show some[ at the time top heifers ]that won a lot and one of our best ever won a NJHS and had won about everything and we took her to an open show along with our market heifer and their was no class for market heifers so we showed them together and the market heifer won and other heifer was reserve.Main thing is have fun and learn something but I would think market.

I think it depends on what you plan on doing with her in the end, if you plan on eating her show her as market, if your plan is to keep her, show her as a breeding heifer. I only say that because of the way I would feed her for each. For market I would feed like a steer and tweak it as I went, for breeding more fiber and protein in her diet, volume but not a lot of fat. The balancing act of being competitive but still having a hiefer that will breed and raise a calf is the hard part.IMO
She's good either way, to me she looks like she will look more feminine as she matures.

Do you have a picture of her in her "pasture clothes?"

I am sorry, I don't.  I thought that I had a picture of her before the hair do, but I apparently don't.

Updated Picture of her from last weekend.

We showed her as a market heifer, but I am still not sure what she is.

I know this isn't a very good picture.  It was a circus, and it took all we had to just get that photo.
