I am not a club calf producer but I purchased a cow that has some club calf genetics in her. She was turned out with a black angus bull and a black simmy bull not sure who the sire is but this is the calf.

There are alot of good things about your calf, I think there are alot of odd angles which may not flatter him. He has some natural thickness and style. It will be interesting to see how he develops. We have had great luck with Simmi influence on our shorthorns.

3 Eagles, I think you have a decent feeder calf steer here but he looks to have some structural issues to me. It may grow out of him since he is so young but I really don't like how weak in the back just behind the shoulders he is. This structure could cause issue with how he walks and how he plants his back feet. He may not set his hooves down correctly and have proper flex in his pasterns. Also, the tail head area may end up too high and point upwards which is a bad trait for his potential daughters. This is the critique I would give at this point and something to keep an eye on. On the bright side he is a healthy, thick calf that will make you some money with his weaning weight more than likely.

Given him some time, if his top line levels out he might make an excellent county fair project. He has good hair and natural thickness, and a little of a cocky look to him. Not all county fair are Nationals lite, not knowing what yours is like he may work. Post a picture at 3 months and let us see how he has progressed, taken on level ground with his head up in a natural position will help.

Thanks for the honest input. She seems to have this kind of calf regardless of what she is bred to. The calf would do pretty well here at our county fairs. I banded him and hopefully he turns into something .
