Give me you opinion! When this calf was 2 months old I thought this was our best chance at a supreme champion steer. Some people told me to send him to slaughter! What do you think?

Also goes to show you that you shouldn't render too harsh of an opinion without seeing the animal in person.  Short video clips and pictures are very misleading, ask a number of guys who have gotten stung from an online auction before, Breeder reputation is everything.  Takes a lifetime to build and seconds to destroy!!!!

calf could stand to be better balanced, stronger behind the withers.

is he entered in the carcass class?

western cali not really known for top end steers anymore.

to me, he's ok. not really striking, but appropriate for cali market. seen lots of limi calves that never remotely get fat in these classes. a cooler visit will bear this out.

used to visit the cooler a few years in a row after area carcass classes near me from various counties and not many had a cover over 0.2"

good job!

No limi in this Steer. He is a hoodoo x chi.

Slick steer show, 70 Steer. A few steers pushing the 5k-10k range at the show.

He is in a carcuss contest and we will know how he does in 2 weeks.

The bottom line is the slick steer deal is very different from a hair show. Some of the steers in the show have won other places with hair. 4 of top 11 steers in the show we bred out of our bull. Feeding and freshness is so important at a slick show. I was just super pumped about this steer because many people told me he was no good. FFA or 4-H champ can be luck at times but supreme you need more than luck...

cool!!

also, not saying your calf has simi in it, but quite a few seem to have it here on the west coast and the one's i've seen in the locker and live in the ring, have no cover.  this says a few things, you fed your animal, and others don't. the simi calves are too big and cost too much for these kids to feed, making the fields effectively thin. you did a great job.
