I was visiting a farm yesterday, and they were showing me one of their herd bulls who is sired by Who made Who. They bred him themselves and he has sired a lot of great calves for them. He will be 9 years old in 2 months and is still pretty sound. This got me thinking that if WMW is still alive he would have to be at minimum 10 or 11 years old. Can anyone tell me... is he still alive? If not, how old was he when he died?

He was actually born in 1996 so he would be 15 in april if he was alive, so my guess is that he died a couple years ago. Jsut a guess though

WMW was still alive in June when I saw him. Plus, he can still stand and walk.....unlike many other "clubbie" bulls! Alive AND still walking....a plus for greatness!!

someone told me they went out to hawkeye last year and they were looking around and they saw a real nice looking mature bull. they figured out later that it was who but they were impressed with his soundness. crazy isn't it how he is over ten years old and is so sound yet everyone complains about his calves.

when you've been bred to everything on this earth like he has, your gonna have some cripples too.

yep, but LOTS of people say all the throws is cripples.  I guess they haven't seen the same WMW calves i've been seeing the last 7 or 8 years then...

I've been told, so rumor, no proof, that the bull that everyone says that they are seeing is a clone. I do not know this for sure, so take it as a rumor. Probably shouldn't even post this up. Brent

That would be sneaky and a little disappointing. I do remember when they first started advertising Who II. I know he came out about the time of heatwaves clone.
Never heard much else after that.

That picture doesn't look like a sound bull to me. Straight as those back legs are laying down, I can't imagine 'em having much flex standing up.  I'm a pretty big Who fan myself, but I'll be the first to tell you I've seen plenty of his calves that weren't sound, even out of sound cows - not all of them, not even most of them, but they're darn sure out there.

Agree with every word DLD. The mystery remains. Has anyone seen both WMW and the clone at the same place and time???

My thoughts exactly DLD and CAB, when I saw the picture. The back legs look pretty straight in the picture, but then pictures can deceive. In any event, if he is 13 and still drawing breath, he has to be sounder than some of his offspring. I have seen WMW calves so crippled at weaning, that they had to be put down. I have also seen WMW offspring that were sound as any animal could be. So the mystery remains... is he alive or is it his clone that is pictured????

There were supposed to be (at least) a couple of full brothers to him floating around, too.  I'm thinking that Lautner may have even promoted one of them a little bit, but maybe I dreamed that...
