What are all of you breeding to thr Jakes Proud Jazz daughters?  I have 1 that is JPJ on a 3/4 char cow.  I am wanting to go back to a Shorthorn bull, but every bull that strikes my fancy is a JPJ son.  Any words of wisdom is apprciated!

It really depends on your goals with the resulting progeny? I have personally lined up JPJ up to 4 times with no problems.  I prefer a cross with two shots of JPJ. I like some of his sons progeny more than his own.  If you just want a functional low maintenance replacement than use a Canadian bred bull or Kaper 4508.  If you want show steers Farrers "hear me now" bull or a red demand/red reward son.  The trump bred cattle will offer great potential for good show stock but, also, great potential for problems and inconsistent calves.  My suggestion is find an example of what you want and see what bulls look like that. Then compare them to your cow to see which have the greatest possibility of getting you to that point regardless of their relatedness.

DS isn't the end of the world, but be careful with breeding your heifer (potentially a carrier) to a carrier son of JPJ. I like the Creole 135 calves that I've seen, and he's calving ease.
