I love the ghosts & goblins, but man all of the flashing ads and banners are almost making it impossible to use the Planet, If you're like me and living in the third world where we just get dial up, Iowa, who would think??

Sorry I got everything compressed to the max. Every image including the logo has been tuned down in quality and colors.  Here is a load times for the forum.  If you are using a broadband connection your load times are down to 5 seconds and under.

Also everything should be a touch faster after you visit the site and it caches all the images.

Connection Rate  Download Time
14.4K    163.81 seconds
28.8K    83.91 seconds
33.6K    72.49 seconds
56K    45.09 seconds
ISDN 128K    16.59 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps    5.09 seconds

It would be nice to have the 56k down to 20 seconds.  I guess I could create a steerplanet lite theme for dial up users.  I will look into that.

I know that you are trying as hard as you can to keep everything up to SPEED as you possibly can Jason. Thanks for all that you do. I'm glad that you are getting some ads put up.  You are very much appreciated by us all. Surely there can't be too many of us Hill Billies left out here!!!

Ok found a wap solution for mobile users that will display the forum in a text based layout.

CAB you could visit the site to and your browser would render like a mobile phone.  I know most mobile phones support markup language, but if you are not a fast service plan or on a limited data service plan this will help you access the site with ease.  Make no bones, it is not pretty, but it will give you a fix to see what is going on.

no problem, I was actually looking into this last night as our frontpage was loading slow.  For some reason it was loading up the winners gallery including all preview sizes on initial load of the site, I disabled the gallery feature and cut the load time down to 1/3rd.

Jason if you haven't figured it out yet, I'll tell you, I am technically illiterate. I do have a cell phone, but can barely use it!! My kids can provide witness if necessary. It's just sad. Believe me. I'll suffer through. Thanks though. Brent

When I get on steerplanet on my BlackBerry I can either get on the regular site with all the pictures, ads, and things(takes for ever to load) or I can get on a text only site and it is lightening fast as soon as I click its loaded.
