I need some bulls that have calving ease without giving up on having great calves... what do you guys think is the better bull? Jesse James or I80? do you guys have any suggestions on these bulls or others? I would also like a couple bulls with some color.... can you guys post some pictures of your calves out of these bulls or any other calving ease solution bulls?? I will post some pictures of my heifers later! THANKS!! <party>

I know you didn't mention Tiny Tim, but we have really liked our calves out of him.  They are sound, consistent, easy doing, cattle.  They have also been some of the smallest calves we have ever had even when compared to a calving ease Angus sire.  Might keep him in mind if he is something that you can use.  He seems to throw black calves with a little chrome on our cattle.  We run mainly Maine x Shorthorn.  One of our Tiny Tim's from two years ago was overall Grand Champ at our county fair and we have two nice breeding heifer prospect that are just now yearlings that look like they will make good cows.  Good luck.

These are a couple pictures I was able to round up.  The calves are a few days old in the pictures.  The one with the white socks is the steer that won our county show and the other is one of the heifers.  I would agree with Gargan when he says I-80 has more show success.  He is definitely one that you hear a lot about.  Good luck with your decision.

is tiny tim that consistent?
He has been for us. Also, if you do a search on here there are other folks that have had consistent results with him.

Thanks but if hes producing 50lb light boned calves, I doubt they amount to much.. Will they ever get a decent size and if they aren't good enough to show will they get big in a feed lot fast like all of the others?? I am still very unsure about this bull.. What do you guys think about Breathe Easy,Montego Bay, Smokin' Joe, S A V Brilliance, Ali's Solution, and Rocky Balboa?? Also there is a bull called Little Black Book , someone told me about him but I just can't find any information on him or anything.. If you find something please share a link. THANKS!!! (thumbsup)

/// I hope you have 200 hiefers to try all of them-they are alot different in phenotpye-size and make up-Breathe Easy, and i-80,are similar somewhat in type to me, Montego Bay and Smokin Joe somewhat also-they are probably the most commercially all around usefull-calving ease, performance etc, Rocky Balboa is another real good-maybe a little smaller framed-Tiny Tim (to repeat a really cool earlier quote) is just that. Alis Solution is a carrier,Brilliance calves will probably NOT compete against the i-80s and alot of the others come showtime-JMO-go ahead and lets fight over it (lol) O0

I think you might still be talking about Tiny Tim in your post here, so if you are I will attempt to answer you.  Our steer finished at 1350 and both of our yearling heifers are over 900 lbs at this point.  Like any other bull I just think it depends on what kind of cow you use him on.  Our cows are probably a little "old school", so they have a little more grow in them than some.

I-80 has moe show success because they really pushed him to everybody They sold 5 times the semen on I-80.  Right now he has 34 reg. animals in the Chianina Association.  I would imagine I-80 has a bunch registered in the AMAA, too.  Jessie James has 2 reg. offspring...When there are 15 times the calves out there, the odds are he is going to have more winners.  Now that Jesse James  was used more this past breeding season, I would imagine you're going to see more winners out there.  And to the comment about him adding more power, someone who saw Jesse James at Hawkeye Breeders commented that to look at him, you wouldn't believe him to be a calving ease bull.  From what I saw, he's got a better head and neck than I-80, too...
