I am not sure if this will help, but this is what we are doing right now.

We have a steer weighing 1440 that is about 2 weeks out from State Fair.  We have been really watching the steers hocks for swelling because he is plenty straight.  Movement was never an issue with him, so we aren't talking about exactly the same thing.

About 3 weeks ago, the swelling got to the point that I decided we better do something about it.  We put him on Fluid Flex and pure MSM powder.  In a matter of 2 weeks, the swelling is completely gone.

Make sure he gets plenty of exercise.

for me, this works better than anything and is about 1/32 of the price. past two years, i have had calves weak in their pasturns and popped a little, i rub it on them for two days on their hocks and pasturns before the show, night before the show, and morning off show and we've been able to win our prospect steer show at out state fair back to back years by using this stuff. it will work with swelling too
