My show steer has been lame for past two weeks, vet thinks its something in his joints. Any good joint supplements out there? Once he stretches and walks for awhile, he tracks fine but when he first gets up, he is stiff. Any advice is appreciated :)

You might consider having your show steers' skeleton aligned and adjusted.  You will be amazed at the difference the skeletal alignment and adjustment will make in their ability to move and function.  You will also see a positive impact on their nervous and digestive systems.  Your cattle will perform better in the showring as well as the feed trough.  Contact me today for more information.  I am located in Sweetwater, Texas, but will travel when necessary.  Lambs and goats adjusted also.  Cost $100.00 per head for cattle. You might use some stuff called Sta-Sound. I had a steer last year that had the same issue. They say use it as a top dress on feed. I mixed it (its a powder) with some stuff they sell at wal-mart call joint juice and made a daily drench. Within 3 weeks of everyday treatment he moved better and quit popping. I keep a bucket all the time now.

What is your daily routine with the calf, does he have a large run or a small pen? Have you started doing anything different with him the last few weeks? Are you tying him during the day?
Calves need to get out and move to stay loose, if the calf is in a small area or is confined in a stall or tied all day he may not be receiving the needed exercise to keep loose.
Think of it like riding in the car for 5 hours when you get out you are a little stiff when you first get out and start moving but once you get stretched out your fine.
Your calf may just need to get more exercises each day.

Thanks for the replies. I've never heard of Sta-sound, I will definitely check it out.
VC, he is in a large pasture with option of run in, I usually tie him up at feeding time but he is free rest of the time. He is always really stiff when he gets up, kinda of works out of it but u can still notice a little hitch in his gait.

I have used supplement products from su-perstore.com for years with great results.  MSM, Glucosamine C.S., & Hyaluronic Acid are all natural supplements that keep my show cattle comfortable & moving freely.
