At CO state fair this weekend where Matt Leo was scheduled to judge but was excused half way through for inappropriate behavior, from what I had read on him he had a pretty descent record?? Thoughts?

What did he do to warrant that?  We have shown under and watched him judge many times and never seen anything really inappropriate and have always thought he did a good job.  Like all judges you get the occasional politics but the cattle were good enough to win regardless of who was behind them so it didn't really matter.

I don't think it was anything to do with politics or placing he seemed to be doing a proper job with his placing. I asked the superintendent because I was shocked of the judge change and he wouldnt say anything other then he was behaving inappropriately so IDK it all seemed really strange to me

I heard he wasn't careful enough about who he left to go eat with after the show

If you were at the Co state fair and watched the show at all anyone could see that there was nothing "inappropriate" wrong going on.  The show was judged and the cattle that won deserved to win!  Funny how that when people get beat they have to bad mouth the judge all the time.  Maybe the cattle that got beat just deserved to get beat!  Put your big boy pants on and act like you should!  And as in years past they have always had a different person judge the open show.  Maybe whoever is so concerned needs to talk to the Livestock Manager about why there was a different person judging the open show!!

I was there...what a mess.  First and most important:  Matt Leo did NOTHING innappropriate, just a victim of a tight budget, hired by CSF to judge 3 shows to save on travel costs.

Second, the CSF posted the fact that he was scheduled to judge the junior beef breeding, the open bulls and the open females over the 3 day period.  Further, the Purple Circle had an article all about Matt Leo and also made it known that he would be judging all of the breeding cattle at the Colorado State Fair.

Some of the exhibitors that did not do their homework and were upset about this, thinking that if they did not do well in the junior show, they would not do well on open breeding, got in a snit, threw a fit and went home.  The CSF, in an extremely poor decision, in my opinion, got a quick replacement judge not known for sterling behavior.  In fact in all my years of showing have I ever seen a judge go all through the stalls shaking everyone's hand and announcing that he would be serving as their judge today.  Makes on shake the head.

MORAL OF THE STORY>>>>(see we can all still learn something?!!! (clapping).....Be careful about making a big deal about a small deal.....the replacement may make you scratch your head!

Please write up your complaints and mail them to Colorado State Fair, Livestock  1001 Buelah Ave. Pueblo, CO  81004    Thank you.
