My parents went down to watch the show and I watched the sale on the internet. Haven't talked to them to get the winners yet but they said it was huge. Here is my outside take on the sale. It started a hour and 45 minutes after it was published to start in the catalog which is an absolute insult to the consignors. The heifer of Lovings sold well but not much happening after that and I had to force myself to watch the rest of the sale through all of the technical difficulties so I'm not sure how most lots sold. I'm sure the junior show is great but from a consignor point of view the sale needs to be dropped or treated with a tad more respect.

It was pretty sad.  The sale averaged probably in the 1000 ish neighborhood.
I think the sale was better overall then last, yes they didnt have alot of high selling calves but the quality was down compared to last, and the shorthorn quaility was up quite a bit.... But the lower end calves did sell better then last. I didnt watch the steers sell, as we were running VERY late. But we did get a heifer bought from Jeff Bryant. They started the sale late due to the heifer show be so large. This expo was the largest it had been in quite some time. JMO

I'm sure the weather had something to do with that, they said the barn and dairy barn were full.

I don't think the internet worked for the sale. Wonder if they got their money back?

I think the internet was how the Loving heifer got sold.  But I dont really know.  Also I did see some bids comming off of it but that might have just been for show.  Also I wonder how many people just turned off there computers after waiting over a hour for it to start?

I have heard that on the shorthorn side, the state association will start a spring sale back up. They will probably continue the expo deal also. Its kind of a struggle right now though. I thought it would be neat if we could somehow showcase the sale in hutch and make it a whizbang deal. Bring in the very top end stuff and have a good sale. It looks bleak now.

From what I heard they are thinking about a fall prospect sale and a spring bull and female sale.  Right now it is just a idea, but I think they need to change it around some.

Concerning the LiveAuctions.TV issue I thought this was very nice of them:

Dear Live Auctions Viewer,

Saturday, we encountered two technical issues:

1) A “Broken Camera” at the Wish List Sale.

    2) A “Microsoft Vista computer that would lock up when we tried to edit the sound settings” at the Kansas Beef Expo.

First of all, I am sincerely sorry.
We are constantly talking about trying to make sure things like this do not happen again.
We have talked about it and come to the conclusion to webcast music at least two hours prior to the sale.
This will encourage everyone to set-up early and allow us to find these Issues.
Despite these issues, we still were able to sell a few lots at each sale.  Thanks Bidders.
If you have any suggestions, please contact me directly.

Quint,
I had a great time showing and was amazed at the number of cattle. Dad liked the bulls and the sale.

We only brought a Shorthorn but would have brought our Red Angus if we had known there was going to be enough for their own class. Which was a great thing. Next time I will call you to check.

Thanks to all who provided support for the show. (clapping)

Nice doesn't sell cattle. Between the start time and "technical difficulties", you can tell where the sale ranks in importance. If I was a consignor I would not have been a happy fellow especially if I knew I had money coming over the net. My family has been strong advocates of the KBE in the past so for me to force myself to watch the sale shows how much work needs to be done. I know one of the reasons my folks went down was to attend the sale but were unable to stay due to the hour and 45 minute delay I wonder how many others were like that.

Wasn't one of the problems that soooo many people showed up and that throwed the schedule because of the large classes.
