Has anyone seen this bull?  What are his strengths and weaknesses?  How about any calves out of him...there should of been some born in '08?  Was thinking of using him to make some angus show calves, but haven't heard much about him.  Any info would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks...

Here is the link to the bull.... http://www.cattlevisions.com/Angus/Aberdeen.php

A friend of mine saw him in Denver last year. He was very impressed with the bull. The only problem was that the bull didn't start freezing until nearly too late for this years breedings.

I really thought that this bull had a lot of potential and still feel the same way.  Does anyone know if you can get sexed semen on him?

Saw this bull in Denver and say that he is the best looking Angus bull that I have seen in a couple of decades. Owners are great PPL. Kelvin/Kellan Jorgensen from Exeter, Ne. They also have a full sib to him. I haven't seen the sib yet. Brent

I thought he was terrible. He looks nothing like his picture. I'll you he was one of many bulls that they made very photogenic. Was not impressed at all when I saw him in Denver last year.

What was wrong with him?  Not often does one person say he is the best in decades and then someone thinks he is the scum of the earth.

I liked him a bunch and I know that Kalvin had over 3000 units of semen sold on him shortly after Denver. Bobby May and John Griswold both have tried to buy the bull.  What didn't you like about the bull CHW? I thought that the bull was very complete and for real. Did you get your hands on him? Some may think that he is too big as far as frame score is concerned, but not me. I thought that he was well balanced, deep, big boned, and had good hair for an Angus bull. He was clean fronted yet wide based. Can be used on heifers. Jorgensen's have quite a few calves out of him and are flushing his dam the same way again. Brent

He was course boned, broken topped, and straight fronted. He was really big and had good hair. I guess if thats all you want is hair and size then he is your bull.

Thanks for everyone's opinion.  How big a bull frame wise is he?  Not everyone has to like the same kind of cattle, but depending on his strengths he might be a useable bull.  Do Jorgensens have a website for more info or some contact info to ask more questions?  Has anyone seen any offspring to get a first hand opinion there?  Thanks again!

This is a total guess on frame size. I'd guess him @ 6.2 to 6.5. You can see by his pedigree that he should and does have look. Our main influence would be clubbie here just so you know that, that is what we do here, although I can appreciate all types of cattle. I agree that we can all like different type of cattle and that is what makes it fun to look, evaluate, and discuss. Kalvin's home Ph # is 402-576-3481, cell # 402-366-9475. They have a # of calves out of the bull. I don't know if they have a web-site.

Do any of the Ne. breeders have any opinions on the bull? Brent

Is 6.2 to 6.5 really considered 'big framed'? That would be about ideal to me.

For some in today's quest for smaller "soggy" cattle it would be too tall, but it is where I like to have bulls fall into. That being said, I am continually arguing about cattle that are too small with my daughter. It's hard for her to teach the old dog new tricks. We did use Aberdeen. Brent

correction, i would use the word "is" instead of "was".  i agree with the broken top look.  it's probably difficult to tell the coarseness of bone from a picture.  he does look smooth fronted.

Thanks Knabe. I stand corrected, is clean fronted.
Did everyone get plenty of turkey? Hope everyone had a great holiday and are back home safe & sound. Sincerely, Brent C.

cab is crouching to make his animals look taller and myt is standing to make them look shorter.  i can't tell who has what frame cattle, but it looks like myt could touch the top of his.  cab's cattle look like they could touch his back easier.

Of course. Knabe pays attention.  :) And yes. I can very easily touch the top of my cattle. Kinda fun being able to lean on them and rub their tail head.

CAB, being a Neb. breeder, i seen the bull's picture in the Nebraska Angus Journal the other day and was going to start a thread similar.  I personally like the bull, i feel like he's got some clubbie look to him, yet you'll still get the angus qualities.

Has anyone seen him as a mature bull, or mature picture?  He's got decent epd's too to make the calves still marketable with a nice look, versus some other fancy bulls with poor or no epd's.
