Hi all,

My daughters steers this year is an MAB offspring, fall 2015 born that I think has real potential here.  Huge boned, great muscle and once we start on cover I think he will finish nicely in April.  After 6 shows of placing 2nd or 3rd in market we keep hearing the same thing, he needs to be more fluid and mobile off his back end.  His rear wheels are super large boned, looks awesome standing but does look stiff walking.  We've used Lubrisyn in the past for our hogs and are looking for something that can help him these last 6 months.  Any recommendations to flex him up and keep him rear sound?  Thanks in advance!

Gotta start with a sound one.

It's extremely unlikely that you'll improve how he moves dramatically while he's also gaining weight.

Lubrisyn is good, and I use rep-gel capsules some before and during shows, but they're not sure bets, and they mostly keep sound ones from getting stiff.

Completely understand.  I know we won't fix genetics, just want to make sure we're doing what we can to maximize the potential, no matter how small that might be.  I'll check out the rep-gel capsules, haven't seen those before, appreciate the input.

Another couple things that could help are exercising the heck out of him, and only getting him fat once. If you're done showing him for a while, back him off feed and give him a bunch of hay. Once they get fat, it's tough to keep them sound.
