Can someone tell me how long does Kent winner fill last?

When does it start going bad?

How you can tell if it is bad?

How can you tell how old it is?

How much do you feed?

How do you all use it?

How well it works?

and anything I have missed :)?

It will start to go stale within 2 days.  Smells horrible.  I have never had a bag go rotten though, the smell is not appealing to me or the calves.  We previously fed 2-3 lbs mixed with the daily ration and then used it as the sole ration at shows.  It was very hard to get, but it does give you a nice fill when fed right.  We have had steers that absoultely will not eat it.

We feed a long with our regulare feed.  Heifers love it.  Sometime at shows calves don't eat but they do eat the winning fill Keep stored in a cool dry place will help with longivity.

We have never had a problem with the calves eating it. They seem to Iove it. We feed it about 1/3 winning fill and 2/3 grain all the time.

My heifer will NOT even give the stuff a chance.  Our other heifers will pick at it, but they don't really like it.  I think they were just used to getting grain, and then hay right after, and this stuff was just too different for them.

Once you get used to the smell, you will know my the musty smell when it's going bad.  If your just feeding for a show,  I have best luck to start about 8-10 days ahead of time and give them a little to get them adjusted to it.

It can last a long time if you take care of it.  I had a bag that I used last Summer and when I was done showing calves last season I wrapped the bag up tight with duct tape and it was still fresh when I opened it this Winter.  It's no different than fermented haylage or silage in a insilage bag,  if you let air get to it you will see it spoil!  If you keep it so that air doesn't get to it and keep it out of the sunlight it will stay fresh, IMO.  I love the feed!

Hope that helps,

Tony

We use FULL TANK with extra beet pulp. It doesn't go bad and it doesn't smell.Calves appear to look full all the time.

we have had very good success holding calves before weigh in at shows then giving them a pan of winning fill and some full tank right after and they really fill back up. one of the calves always looks gutless coming off a trailer ride but she gets her rib back when she eats a pan of that and some water. i've yet to have a calf that won't eat the winning fill. we had a really slow fat steer and the only way my little sister could walk him out of the pen to get him started was to bait him with a handful of it.
