I"ve seen alot of cattle registered to him but am drawing a blank-what were they like, did they have any thickness? I remember Ed Meyer produced a real good female that Kolterman had along time, just wondering if anyone could maybe comment-Thanks in advance O0

Donor's Unlimited sale catalog 2011 I think. Not sure where she went. But she was one of the better Diamon Cutter daughters I saw. Poor picture sorry.

I had a few diamond cutter calves back in the 90's and had a couple since.  They are long sided and correct, they can easily get a lot of leg to them but, he does add some top shape in thickness to the lower quarter.  Daughters milk well and raise some of your biggest calves.  He was okay on birth weights but, like most bulls of that Era he was inconsistent.  I still would use him on the right cow.

I recall one Diamond Cutter in person, very thick. My sister is using a bull called LC Diamond Country this spring- I am pretty sure the pedigrees are similar.

I remember seeing a few Diamond Cutter females back in the 90s or early 2000s, and I always wondered why he never became more popular than he seemed to be. I liked these females as they were pretty complete- thick made, long bodied , smooth and feminine headed. I am thinking they may have been a bit too moderate for that era. His sire, Diamond Legs 21, is a bull I have been looking for semen from for a few years. I remember a few of his offspring and they were impressive. There was only a limited amount of semen from both these bulls sent to Canada, so it was not around for very long. I expect there may be a few straws of both bulls sitting in a tank somewhere.
Both these bulls were TH free and Diamond Legs 21 was also PHAF. I am not sure if Diamond Cutter was ever tested for PHA and I don't think either bull has been tested for DS. If someone ever finds any of this semen I would suggest they don't toss it out... yet.

In 94 Lecil Church had 3 Diamond Leggs calves on display at Denver, they were really nice-not too extreme-especially the hiefers. I thought LC Diamond Country was at Darlees in Nebraska a few years ago-I remember seeing him mentioned in her ads-might have been 13-14 years ago.

LC Diamond Country was at Darlees and in 2004 ( he was 13 yrs old) my sister saw him at Elbees. The following summer Lee had him collected - my sister purchased semen and I saw calves by him the summer of 2005.  If  I remember correctly - LC Diamond Country stifled - but amen to the bulls that can cover naturally for that many years ! Darlee, whom I have never met in person thought he was a all around bull, great females and males.

If I can find them, and that's a big IF, I have/had several vhs tapes from the trips to Darlee's and some of the tapes she would sent out of her cattle for sale. I'm pretty sure one of them had some footage of Diamond Country on it while he was at her place. I remember him tracking across one of her sand hill ridges up above us and it being funny angle but I bet she squeezed a few seconds of him in the tapes somewhere else.

Those videos were a hoot, I'll have to see if they're still buried in the collection somewhere.

//// YOU GOT THAT RIGHT -She sent me one back in 1992 when she had Waukaru First Down-a Solid Red son of K and A shakedown out of maybe a Tea For Tillerman cow or something. Man-she was rollin-it was hard to keep up-she jst started walking through the herd videoing and talking at the same time-and I would love to have some of those Dividend and Guiness oriented cows she had-along with the 2975s and others she knew had Maine in em O0

We used him some in the mid 1990's.  He worked pretty well for us.  I cannot remember the exact year but we sold the champion steer at the Tulsa State fair futurity and he was a diamond cutter.  At the time they were on the moderate size, today they would be about right.  I still have a couple cows that go back to Diamond leggs 21.  Very good cows.

Is their any pictures of diamond cutter or any of the leggs Bulls?

When I had bot a lot of Diamond leggs I actually contacted the breeders. The picture that is always mistaken for Leggs is not him at all but a brother red and white. Not sure there was any pictures of Leggs. someone somewhere might have one. But i couldn't find one in my research about 5 years ago when i bought about 20 units.

Leggs on a Sonny cow did make them thick. had a red neck roan heifer. She was little round in her muscle type but stout and longer sided. she did develop spastic paresis as confirmed by Ohio state Vet clinic and lost her at 6 months. I tried him for calving ease option.

Our inventory shows that we have 2 straws of LC Diamond Cutter.  I'd need to check to be sure that it is still there.  We sold a bull by him and the customer considered him a good bull that bred well.

I have not seen a photo of the Diamond Leggs bull, either.  Plenty of the old Leggs bull, but none that I'm aware of for Diamond Leggs.  The owners had a double page ad in Shorthorn Country several years back that included 3 or 4 offspring, I believe Diamond Cutter was among them.  It's somewhere in my stack.

I do remember a picture of Diamond Legs 21 but don't remember seeing it very often. I do not remember the bull being promoted very much which is probably why he only saw limited use. In regards to promoting an AI sire, I always think of what Mark Graham Sr of Graham Land and Livestock told me many years ago. He said that after advertising Ayatollah and Clark on the back cover of Shorthorn Country for 3 years, they decided most everyone knew about the bulls by then, so they decided to promote them on every second issue. He said that semen sales would drop to every small amounts in the months they did not run their ad, and then soar back to high numbers of orders in the months that the ad ran. I guess that is why Coca Cola, Pepsi and McDonalds continue to promote the same products over and over and over.

I haven't found a tape old enough to have him in it yet, but have watched a couple others. The Diamond Country females are MUCH better than I remembered. Thick, big volume, long hipped, stylish, and quite a bit more milk than I remembered. For producing cows, the Diamond Country on First Down cross looks like a winner!

Despite my dislike for the Stuff line, the Ante Up calves out of the Diamond Country cows are pretty nice. The Gizmo Sizzler calves are pretty impressive as well. The few Heat Seeker heifers she had out of Diamond Country cows are knock it out of the park good. Gizmo Sizzler himself has more leg than I remembered.

The calves are obviously "old school" compared to today's ring, but man, I still like them.  <beer>
