Marty is trying a 26a son in Kansas. Didn't they call him maxi-brute?

AJ,Marty's bull is Kaper 4508.We both have calves on the ground and are excited to say the least.I also had twin heifer calves by "'Maxi Brute''Kenmar President 26a out of the dam of my 108 bull last week.

Ted Sherbeck at Ansley, NB ( Bent Spear Stock Farm) has about 1200 units of Kenmar President 26A ( Maxi Brute). I tried to buy some last year, and he would not sell it. He wanted me to flush cows to it and he would take half the embryos for supplying the semen... Needless to say, he still has it all.

Ted is very judicious.

I think dad bought 3 maxi brute sons from Stout when I was in high school. I can still picture the solid red one. Maybe Maxi brute would work  better than the old leader 21 line in bringing back a shot of old genetics. I assume the brute's semen is in ampules.

Whoops. I guess brute was a son of leader 9th and grandson of leader 21. I always wondered if he might improve marbling in todays Shorthorns. I always admired Don and Pat Stout of Pa Do Shorthorns. A great couple, started with nothing and threw their entire lives into the Shorthorn breed.

When we ultrasounded the group with Church hill X weston dynamo I thought the same - high imf and maybe small rea. She was the second high for rea/cwt and one of the worst for imf?? It would be interesting to see what the other older genes are doing. I know of a Captain X Clipper King heifer calf ....  If I am not mistaken PA Do owned 21st dam and she had something like 19 natural offspring?  Pretty sure they owned Clipper King too, he was the homo polled bull right?

One of the things that attracted me to 26a was his high accuracy for carcass traits,almost 70%,and the fact that even in the last summary he is still positive rib eye and marbling.I have been told that Stouts owned his dam as well and that she was a pretty impressive female.

He is COOOL.  I'm pretty certain that it's been a couple years since I've been through the cattle there. We live just down the road at Hoopeston.
