Hello!  My name is Breanna and I'm new to Steer Planet.  I'm with Cryotec, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN.  We are a cryogenic repair facility and primarily service liquid O2 tanks and we recently launched a Nitrogen dewar repair service.  We have found that other than the OEM's that manufacture the semen dewars, no one is servicing them and that the need is definitely there.  We do all of our repairs in house (helium mass spec leak testing, molecular re-evacuation, welding).  We service truck mounted bulk tanks all the way down to the small shipping dewars.  Please contact me for further infomation.  #317-271-1266  www.cryotec.com    [email protected]

Once they fail I just don't trust them anymore. Time for a new one.

I have purchased two dry shippers that had failed. I bid $1 for each of them on eBay and got them both. I phoned the manufacturer to see if they offered repair service and was told they did but they charged a flat fee of $220 for each tank with no guarantee they could be fixed. That was 5 years ago, and I am still using both of them. They have travelled thousands of miles to virtually all parts of North America with semen and embryos and they both still hold their charge as good as my new dry shippers. If they are repaired properly, they should be as good as new ones.

Cryogenic containers, weather it's a semen tank, a respiratory liquid oxygen tank, a bulk tank mounted in a truck, etc....they are NOT machines.  They do not have any moving parts.  Once a new vacuum has been pulled and any leaks on the tank repaired / parts replaced, you will get the same service life out of a refurbished tank as you would a new one.  That is, as long as it's done correctly.  :)  We have been in the cryogenic tank repair industry for many years and that is ALL we do.  We understand what is being stored and shipped in these tanks can be a small fortune and is precious "cargo".  Keep in mind, we've been repairing respiratory liquid oxygen tanks for 15+ years for the home healthcare industry and take much pride in the quality and precision of our work.

If you'd like to msg me directly with your email address, I'd like to share with you the process we take the dewars through to get them back to like new status.

YOU GOT IT, Justintime! :)

So if a shipper is not holding for more than a few days, you can repair that? We got one that we used a few months ago, and embryos arrived warm. I charged it with Genex, and found it held for just a few days before it got warm. It is old, can something like that be fixed?

I'll take your failed ones too.  8)

YES!  It doesn't matter how old the tank is, it can be repaired.  In my opinion, the older ones are made better.  We can definitely repair your shipper.  Contact me if you would like to send it in.  Tanks that are 19 liters or less are $195 to repair, which includes re-evacuation, repairs to any leaks the tank may have and we warranty the vacuum for 2 years.  There are no hidden costs in the $195....that covers anything it may need.

P.S.  We also sell the nitrogen transfer lines (fill hoses) and do service to larger truck/ trailer mounted nitrogen tanks.

We do not have any refurbished tanks for sale, YET.  We are finding that most people have been pitching their tanks that have failed rather than to sell them to a company like ours.  I think once we get a good volume of them coming in and out of here for service, we will find some people with excess tanks to sell to us to refurbish for re-sale.  Check back with me in a month or so and I may have a few up my sleeves. :)

If anyone has tanks laying around collecting dust in a barn or are not of use anymore, I would be interested in talking about purchasing them.....that is, if they don't want them fixed.

We are getting some great questions phoned in and tanks in for repair.  Feel free to call or email me ANYTIME with ?'s.  :)

Awesome response from people!  Lots and lots of vapor shippers going through our shop with a very high success rate!

MultiGen, we'll be sending yours back today, btw. :)

Contact me if you'd like to send us some tanks or even just one.

We will be attending the NAILE show in Louisville, KY and this will be the first time for us. We won't be exhibiting this year, but I'd like to meet anyone that is interested in talking about their nitrogen dewars while I'm there.  Let me know if you'll be in attendance and I'll make it a point to stop and see you. :)  I will post what day(s) I will be there once I set my schedule.
