Angus Cows are the best cross. Any cows with a really good front 1/3. That is were I would say he is the weakest.

I agree on the Angus based female. I would also use him on a heavy boned female.  I think he works real well simmental females as well as long as they're angular and feminine.

This is a lock and load female we raised out of a purebred Angus cow.  Just love her as a cow. Thinking about flushing her,  not sure to what bull yet.

She looks nice we have 1 lock n load daughter that we really like. I have 2 Angus donors, a Dream On donor and 2 Maintainer donors so might flush 3 of them to him

Thanks and good luck. He should work well.  I have also been happy with my royal affair calves.  I have a heifer out of a golden child x Meyer cow that I like better than the one pictured.  Might want to consider him for your Maine cows if you want to save your lock and load semen.

I also saw loaded up last spring and he looked great.  I bred a couple Angus cows to him as he looks like a great match as well for Angus based females.  He is very thick and cool fronted. Good luck.

I don't think so. Because of his injury they don't have him jump a steer to collect and it sounds like he was kinda hit and miss on collection.

We bought 3 embryos from one of the Lazy H sales, Lock n Load x SS Misty U Nights. We were fortunate enough to get three pregnancies, with a spring bull calf, a fall heifer, and the last one due in January. I am super impressed. The bull is solid black, but big boned and stout. He will remain a bull. The heifer calf is pictured. Again, super big boned and thick. She was just a week old in that pick, just born a few weeks ago.
But I have seen Lock N Load calves that I did not like; fine boned and not a ton of muscle. I would like to use some semen if it ever becomes available.

We bought some cows from Remington Ranch in Canada when they dispersed their purebred herd of Angus and they owned part or more of Lock N Load so several top Angus cows were bred to him.The calves were all baldies and made nice had a little attitude but manageable.I would say their growth was average or a little better but their mothers were as nice on Angus as you will find.I know EBY ranch had success on their Angus cows so I would say the right kind of Angus would work.As hot as SimXAng is it would be a good cross for bulls or heifers.

Genex is now selling his semen, at $75 a straw. I called my rep today to see if he was collecting, with his broken leg and all, and she said he was. I ordered half a cane. She said it would be in the next shipment she gets. Now to figure out what to use him on....  ;D

I got a real nice cow that is smaller sized, super front end, but lacks a little gas and is not what I would call big boned. She is a Built Right, but no white on her face except a little snip on her nose.... I have always wanted to flush her, she is a super cow (has done well at Nationals as a pair several times). Just not sure if he would work with her. I know Fat Butt DID NOT work on her! She is due in a few weeks with an Upgrade calf...
Does he add size to the cow, or take it down?

Here is his video if you have not seen it...

She calved the end of October, had a pretty nice bull calf. We just weaned him this weekend, he was 690, if I remember correctly, no creep and 6 months old. We like him, and have left him a bull. This is a horrible picture, because I just sheared off his baby hair and washed him, and the middle daughter took a short blade to his head on accident! All this done the day after we weaned him, and he was a jewel. Great docility! But you can see how naturally thick he is, imagine him on a little feed and time.
We have three Upgrade calves, September born. All are super nice. The other two are heifers. We have had three Lock n Load embryo calves.... All flush mates. They are pretty nice too. I still have those 5 straws in my tank....
