I'm looking to design a logo for my cattle operation that can be embroidered on jackets and hats.  I'd like to incorporate the show steer logo.  Any suggestions on logo software/design options would be appreciated.  Also, any companies you have purchased embroidered logo wear from and would recommend.

Thanks
Jason

I did my own design on paintbrush. its pretty simple really, then you can email your design to most any company to embroider your hats, etc. good luck

Depending on how "professional" you want the logo to be, I would suggets that you pay someone a nominal fee to design your logo. Soft ware can be expensive, our design soft ware that we use to build catalogs, advertising, etc. was in the 4 digit range for professional graphic design soft ware. RCR

Tucker Mittag does logos and design.  With his show cattle background, you will definitely get a professional looking logo that is very reasonable.  Contact him through the Mittag Cattle blog...

As a graphic designer, I highly recommend hiring that job out to somebody who has some training and experience in GOOD logo design! The ag world is so far behind most industries that advertise and brand their products because we don't allow people who know about design to do work we think we can do for ourselves. Yes, there is software that allows anybody with a computer to CREATE a logo...that isn't really the same thing as talent & training required to DESIGN an effective identity for your program. It doesn't have to be expensive, but like a lot of things, I would be reluctant to use a bargain basement "designer" based solely on the price of the product. This is the face of your program, and it will help build your brand and probably be part of the first impression a lot of people may have of your cattle. My advice is to make that impression count!

Ranch House Designs created our logo when they designed our website.  They throw it in for free when you do a website with them.  Logo design by itself is also available for a fee.  They will customize it exactly the way you envision it.  They were so great that I became a rep for them in 2011.  Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you a quote.

Most expensive templete I've seen them use cost them about $40.  How much did they charge you?

There's a one time design fee and then you only pay the quarterly maintenance fee after that.  Their prices all depend on the number of pages you would like to see on your site.  A lot of things people don't notice when having a website quoted is the "hidden fees" such as hosting and domain name registration.  Many designers (or even diy sites) charge you additional fees for each update or limit the number of updates you can do - RHD does not charge for any of this.  This is what we found when pricing a designer.  It also comes down to speed and quality.  RHD is known to be the best in the business not only due to their custom designs and direct livestock industry knowledge, but also because of the speed of their updates.  Most of the time, I can send them a bunch of photos or wording that I need changed and it's done within 24 hours.  That makes us money when it's sale season and web traffic is really high.  It's all about how you value your business.  In today's world, nearly everyone has a website, it's how it's used and promoted that really sets you apart from the rest.

Would you mind showing me a log they designed using a "templete" they bought for $40? Or any price for that matter.
