loose stools

Steer is weighing 1150. Eating 24 lbs of Show Rite Throttled Up feed and gets 4 slabs of timothy/Orchard grass(<<older cut) a day. Nothing has changed in his diet. I give Probias every 2 weeks and his stools have been considerably loose than normal. Not water but thinner than pancake mix. I've read on here about sulfer bolus. We have a tractor supply near by that sells Sustain Cattle III. I've never used it before . Is that the same thing ppl.are referring to? Read the directions and it sounds like doom and gloom if not given right. Gonna also pic up some  cotton seed hulls. Have a show in a couple weeks and would like him tightened up by then. This sound about the right path to go? The Sustain Cattle III has me a lil stand offish because it doesn't say "Sulfer Bolus" SO I want to make sure I'm administering the right stuff. Thanks for your time

I would also like to worm him again.  It was last  done about 3 months ago.
I do not recall the wormer we used as it was given to us by our 4-H  club. Can I get suggestions on a good easily administered wormer thanks

I've always used and had good results with ivomec pour on. Doesn't get any more simpler to administrate either. you can pick it up at your local tractor supply.

Sustain III is a sulfur bolus. You can give him neomycin, or a sulfamethazole product if the boluses scare you too bad. I've actually had better luck with those in scours, and save the boluses for foot rot.

I got the boluses today. Will attempt to drop them in tomm. Calls for 5 with his weight. Dang...had no idea they were that big. Looks like it could be a interesting task haha. I also picked up some Safeguard paste and gun to worm with. Thanks

Your absolutely correct CAB. Our Tractor Supply here doesn't sell the gun though they sell the Bolus<< go figure. I tried it today by hand and with a piece of PVC pipe but no go. I would give you the play by play but to make a long story short it wasn't pretty haha. Southern States a town over has the gun and will get it tomm. 

  If they have a choice between plastic or a metal alloy gun, take the metal gun hands down the better choice. The only time that you may want to use a plastic gun would be for putting magnets down a calf/cow.

Didn't want to leave this post open ended like so many others on here in case anyone looked in the archive. I did end up having to order the gun seeing there wasn't any to be had here. Gave 5 bolus (quite the experience being our first time) and wormed with Safequard paste. It did tighten him right up by the next afternoon but also knocked him off feed for 4 days. Not sure what knocked him off but glad to have him back eating today. Have a show in 6 days. Not sure if we will bring him.  Want to thank everyone for the help and advice
