Try Priceline.com or expedia.com . when you put L'ville ,then they usually have a map so you can see how close to fairgrounds you'd be. I'm at the Super 8 where you go in with the cattle . It's pretty new & clean & very handy. The number is 502-635-0799

I've had excellent luck with hotwire.com in the past.  It will tell you the rate of the rooms but not the name until you confirm but every time I have used them the hotels have been very nice.  It will also tell you how far from the destination you will be which is nice.

if you got a catalog look through it for motels. also some breeds have rooms blocked off.
Just don't stay at the Holiday Inn by airport. Very nasty.
