I was wondering how long a heifer can be along in calf that lutalayse will work to abort the calf?

Lute by itself up to 120 days. After that you may want to add some cortisol with it and will need to pay some attention to your heifers/cows for some slight risk of troubles with increasing risks as the females get further along in gestation.

my vet suggest before 90 days.  If after that, you could get a mummy easier and that is difficult to remove.

Gus is right, I had that very thing happen.  Made a mummy and could not get it out of the cow.  Ended up culling her when all I wanted to do was get rid of the pregnancy.....big mistake.

In my opinion yes, aborted 6 head a couple years back, had two doses of Estrumate and did the rest with Lute.  They were all 30-60 days the two that were Estrumated aborted the four that were Luted all had happy healthy babies a month after they were put out to pasture.  Take it for what its worth but I'll never use anything but Estrumate again, even if it costs a little bit more.

Can estrumate be used farther along in the pregnancy then lut?
