What Maine-Anjou bull will add a shot of frame to their offspring.  I have a purebred  BK PowerPlus female that I am looking to breed and want to add a little bit of frame.  She's a small framed female...about a 5 frame score.  Any suggestions are appreciated!

this is a new one on me.  I don't know that i've ever heard anybody curious of which ones will add frame.  Which Maine bulls won't?

for this application, DJ Caesar may be a choice, I've heard many reference DMCC Polleroid or any descendants.  Anything that has roots in Epinal and Capone ususally adds frame. pm me if you need more ideas, or if you care to discuss the bloodlineds of the cow.

Full flush will or pistol pete if u can get ur hands on some of that older semen. Bulls have downsized since their glory years. Full flush has a clone i think that may be within reason price wise. I would use him!!

Lots of options with Maine bulls to increase fram size - depending on your goals
Pistol Pete - great females may add white sox
Caesar - also really good females - may still need certificate to register (Power Plant son)
Polleroid - in my experience huge bull adds tons (too much?) frame with lots of bone & big feet  - they are pretty but not maternal and not much performance
Witch Doctor - good old multipurpose bull (also PP son) seems to add frame on small framed cattle

so many bulls, so few cows that want more frame ;)

Thanks for the suggestions folk.  Just to give you a bit of where I am going here...the cow is a PowerPlusXPayoff female.  I currently have her bred to Ali...due end of July.  I am looking to breed her for females-that I can inturn breed for club calves.  I am not looking to get outrageous frame size added....just a little more than a small 5.  1 bull I have eyed for my CharX females is I-80....how are his calves looking?  Again, thank you all for the information.

Cigar will also add frame. I just sold a 1700lb cigar cow that came out of a moderate meyer/ext dam. the cigar cow was a 6.7 frame cow. also there is a maine breeder in michigan, his name is Duane Simpkins (Clay Knoll farm) and he has a maine bull they call JMP Hulk, this bull will give you frame, milk, and a ton of performance. his females are awesome and bulls will perform.

he is also a very consistent bull we show at least 1 heifer every year out of him and sell 3 bulls he usually keeps 5 bulls to sell he is dead now but he has allot of semen drawn on him he will add size some bone some muscle and he usually keeps the same hair the cow has or had  he is sired by the grand champion Maine bull awhile ago "executive" i believe is his name

For what you are wanting to do I would stick with Pistol Pete IMO he will give you the best options down the line for females to cross on to those clubby lines.

Not sure if either DJ Caesar or Witchdoctor will add much frame.  I do agree with Pistol Pete, along with Paydirt and Payoff.  New bulls could include GVC Special Delivery and GVC Statesman. Our ZNT Triple X bull will also add some frame, while keep birthweights low.

Caesar was a frame 7...i thought on a frame 5 cow, he'd bring her up a little without making the progeny lanky, maintining the thickness some. all of the above mentioned bulls seem to be good candidates.

where did cattle visions have that fullblood semen listed for sale?

JMP Hulk is a sweet bull! Showed a steer out of him a few years ago. His calves are big topped, big butted and grow like weeds and he makes great bulls and females. Calves out of him won the maine anjou feed trial a few years back gaining 4-5 pounds per day.

<----------- This is a Hulk steer

guess I missed it.  where did you see Cinet at?  saw a few other 'uncommon' foundation sires, Viking Answer and the Metric genetics you like, even Danigo...but maybe it's more clear on the CMAA site?  saw Cactus VI as well.

A bull that I liked a lot when I saw him, and also like the females, was DJ Patent 213084 - he is a Bulls Eye son out of a Pistol Pete cow - might work real nicely on your cow. He was also the sire of the ch pen of 3 at Denver - DJ's Patent Hunk, Hulk, and Huck

I was never all that fond of the Executive calves and JMP Hunk is an Executive son

hulk was a massive bull hints the name hulk lol and his calves are always consistently the top cattle out of a pen of 10 or more we showed a red steer out of him last year that weighed 1550 at fair his but was about 3 feet wide we also sold 1 of his daughters for 3500 or 3700  they always bring about the same amount at the sales one  not to long ago sold over 4000 i believe i myself like calves out of his other bull but hulk is the most consistent and produces good maternal genetics that are good females to cross with clubby bulls

Have had good success adding frame with a Hercules son in our commercial cows years ago. I believe Hansen's in Saskatchewan have semen on Hercules. Full blood bulls also do a great job if white markings aren't an issue.

Back in the mid to late 90s we were using Polleroid quite extensively to add frame, bone and style. I will add that most of the cows bred to Polleroid were heavily influenced by Magic, possibly the best Cow maker of the Maine-Anjou breed.  As a matter of fact, we showed a Polleroid X Magic  heifer to Reserve National Champion In 1998 & Grand National Champion Bred and Owned.
